A 44-year-old man on crutches fatally shot one of two intruders who came charging at him Friday morning in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood, according to police.
Mario Viramontes, 31, was declared dead on the scene in 2000 block of West 21st Street at 9:22 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Police were called to the scene about 9:10 a.m. for a burglary, and when they arrived, they found that a “male offender” who had been trying to commit a burglary had been shot by the homeowner, said Police News Affairs Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti.

FTA: “During the course of the investigation, police learned the 44-year-old homeowner’s FOID card was expired and he was charged with one count of possessing a firearm with an expired FOID card, a misdemeanor, police said.” Unbelievable. Too bad he didn’t possess a copy of the Constitution.

And our one party government is going to grant amnesty. Hope they move in next door to anyone who votes for amnesty.

The Chicago area has a huge concentration of Mexican gangs. Mexican gangs in Chicagoland dwarf all other gangs combined. Mexican gangs, and the Mexican drug cartels have infiltrated Chicago city government to an unprecedented degree.
You think the Italian/Sicilian “Mob” of the 20th century had political influence in Chicago? What influence they had — and it was considerable — pales in comparison to the influence the Mexican gangs and cartels have over Chicago and Illinois politics.
I found it interesting that the homeowner’s/victim’s/shooter’s age was mentioned 4 times in the article, while the perp’s age was mentioned once. Wonder why.

I’m curious. What is a “FOID”? We don’t have any kind of firearm ID anything in Louisiana, neither any kind of registering.

My lib neigibors believe that none of these stories are true — the ones where the good guys prevail by using guns. They truly believe the NRA has people sitting in a room writing fiction and then pull out one of these stories every once in a while. They really believe that!

Democrat dominated Illinois requires its honest citizens to apply & pay for a card [FOID] before buying ammo or firearms. The card has expiration dates, so honest citizens can be arrested if they fail to renew it, even for mere possession years after the purchase.
This is infringement as legal ownership and use of firearms is our constitutional and natural right.
Well, the cops had to arrest and charge somebody, didn't they?
