Well why don’t you have a buddy do it to you or someone you love like your mom or your kid a few times and if you still wouldn’t call it torture then I’ll freely concede the point.
I reiterate that I support it 100% but pretending it’s not torture is silly semantics. It is and so is sleep deprivation and forced sitting in uncombable positions and other similar non-permanently harmful techniques. Torturing these pigs for live-saving information is 100% justified an in my opinion, legal. I would do worse than waterboard them, I’d go as far as penis removal. “We can still reattach it if you talk NOW”.
Pinging some people to see what they think.
He says, not torture.
And sorry but neither are the other things you mention.
To say they are is like saying being leered at is being raped. Or having loaf is being starved.
We do no service when we make definitions overly broad.
After all this time debating this issue is similar to debated the firing of General McArther, an topic earlier today. Its history book stuff.
But I recall that by 2007 and 2008 Bush and Cheney's policies were polling toxic, especially Iraq.
But no matter how many times Dems would call it ‘Immoral torture’, the water-boarding of terrorists to get time critic info remained popular, in fact I recall a poll in Bush second term saying that the majority supported using torture to stop a terrorist attack.
Wasn't it a short term crisis response that ended early on?
Is the Obama drone policy more compassionate?
These are animals that BEHEAD innocent people on film, drive airplanes into buildings full of civilians, and basically have the attitude “Convert to our belief or DIE”.
I have ZERO problem with our guys doing WHATEVER it takes to save American lives.
War is hell, ain’t it?
“Pinging some people to see what they think.”
Like I always say: “If there’s a question, the answer is Einsatzgruppen.”
