A part of every Thin Mint and Do-Si-Do, every Samoa and Savannah Smile goes to support abortion advocacy. So say John Pisciotta, who runs a tiny pro-life organization in Waco, Texas, and a dozen national pro-life organizations he has convinced to join him in a national boycott of Girl Scout cookies that will be announced in Texas tomorrow.
A few weeks ago, the Girl Scouts designated Wendy Davis as an incredible woman who deserved to be on the list of 2013 Women of the Year. Only a month earlier, the organization promoted Kathleen Sebelius as a woman of courage on its Facebook page.
Davis is not known for much more than exaggerating her life story and for her filibuster of a pro-life bill in the Texas legislature. Her critics point out that the bill she filibustered was one that limited abortions after viability....

When I see a couple of kids haewking candy bars outside a store, usually for J.F.L. or Little League. I tell them, I'll buy you each a candy bar with your mother's permission, mother or some other adult is usually standing nearby.
I don't want the candy, kids are happy, Little League or whatever gains , everybody happy, happy, happy.
That’s exactly what I’m thinking. Simply saying “No, thank you” doesn’t make a point. I will tell the adults “I will not support any organization that supports Wendy Davis and abortion.” Let them explain it to their daughters.
I had no idea the girl scouts of america were such a political hack job of an organization, nor did I have any idea that they enforce women who who leave their husbands and children.
Who or what is ‘abortion Barbie’? A real person? A doll? I was a GS until I graduated from high school and support them via cookie sales every year.
If you can show me where the GSA supports Planned Parenthood and explain what ‘abortion Barbie’ is, I will no longer deal with them.

You bet. I bought some of their Walmart coconut cookies. They may be made by the same company. They sure do taste the same.
I’m glad to know this, I won’t buy any and will say why.
I sorta feel the same way... on the other hand, the girl selling them is young and sweet. Her family clearly doesn’t endorse Abortion Wendy. I think there is a girl scout alternative, can’t think of it on half a cup of coffee though. I don’t think I have the heart to say those kinds of things to the girls, but their parents are usually there, maybe speak to them. These girls are being used by the left, mostly unwittingly. So what do we offer, a chastisement to a young girl, or an alternative?
There has long been a connection between the Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortionists or groups. Too bad for the girls but I for one cannot support them as long as the abortionists benefit from that support in any way. The Girl Scouts of America would do well to break all ties to the abortionists or their groups.
The girl scouts make pennies on the dollar per box, A Troop Leader acquaintance confirmed this to me two years back. Not only do they support the murder of babies, they have no head for business at all.
my waistline is heartbroken - my wallet and conscience....not so much
It’s the butter
We enjoyed the cookies - but always found the manner of parents hawking them at work to be counter to the intent.
That said - Boy Scouts/ girl scouts or school students - none should be hawking products to fund this or that - our taxes are meant for that
“our taxes are meant for that”
I wholeheartedly disagree! We’re taxed too much, and for a million wrong and wasteful reasons.
All businesses and entities should stand on their own merit, not be funded by my money. If I want a service or product, I’ll buy it.
Subsidies of every sort should be ended, the NEA, PBS, NPR, etc. should be funded by those who desire them. If I run a crappy business that no one wants, it should fail.
What valuable lessons would young girls have learned from selling cookies and /or joining girl scout?
WHY do the people who run the organization turn political? (Rhetorical question, the feminist/leftist/nazis’ indoctrination starts young and they want to permeate everywhere.)
The Girl Scouts did not endorse Wendy Davis. Neither did any official spokesman or any tweet from their account.
What they did do was link to a HuffPo story talking about women of the year and who should be nonminated. Someone NOT affiliated with Girl Scouts spoke of Wendy Davis in the article. It was not an article focused on Wendy, but many different women. The one mentioned most was youth activist Malala Yousafzai.

She had not heard about them naming abortion Barbie as one of their heroes.

Probably because they didn’t do that. Read post #58
GS cookie sales profits stay within the local councils. It does not send funds to the national organization.
