The drama surrounding Donald Trump's potential campaign for governor appears headed for an extended run—at least until Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino makes a formal announcement about running.
Trump, appearing on an Albany radio station this morning, said he is “ready, willing and able” to run for governor but will not do so if Astorino or anybody else enters the race. Trump also ruled out taking his potential candidacy to the state GOP convention in the spring.
“I really want unity,” said Trump, who is scheduled to address a GOP fundraiser in Buffalo Friday. “I want to go in there right from the beginning and I want to go in swinging right from the beginning. I don’t want to be knocking Rob or knocking anybody else to win a primary.” …

Still... had he actually been serious about running, and wound up defeating the Teleprompter _resident, how do you speculate things would have turned out? Better or worse?
This reminds me when I was a kid and had friends stay over and we used to argue which superhero, or monster, could beat the other in an imaginary match.
Trump and Palin are show people. That is what they do, that is what they like to do, that is what they are good at.
Its a stage.
There is a difference however. Trump is bored and has access to tons of money to feed his ego. There is likely not a real GOP candidate so he can jump in.
He is a bone fide New Yorker and might just gin up enough support to win

Maybe, but that’s not what I’m asking; my question is, had he been SERIOUS about getting elected, and meant business, do you think we’d be better off or worse? What direction do you think he would have taken the country?

Asking “What if Trump had been elected President”? is kinda like asking “What if Barney the Dinosaur had starred in Jurassic Park.”
I have trouble seeing President Trump as a realistic scenario.
