Tuesday night live on C-SPAN, President Obama outlines his agenda for the coming year when he delivers his fifth State of the Union Address before a Joint Session of Congress.
Leading up to the President's speech, C-SPAN sets the scene from the White House and Capitol Hill with perspectives from Former Speechwriter to President Obama Jon Lovett, Senate Historian Don Ritchie, and Gallup Editor in Chief Frank Newport.
Following the State of the Union, House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) delivers the Republican response. McMorris Rodgers is in her fifth term representing Washington’s Fifth District.

They are trying to appeal to women. It’s ok. Next comes Mike Lee and then Rand Paul. That will make up for any weakness on this lady’s part, although she is doing all right, although a little hokey. She really didn’t say much of anything. However, she will probably appeal to a lot of women. We’ve got one woman response and two men responses, so that is a good thing. The men can go after Obama tooth and nail and I sure hope they do. Next.

There’s a good reason nobody’s ever heard of this ‘fourth-ranking republican’. And hopefully never will again.

Afghanistan only gives us two choices. “winning” isn’t one. They will never be decent productive people who respect others and live under rule of law.
NO amount of fighting or ROE can make them into something they aren’t. You can give me unlimited money, resources, and manpower,,, and you will not teach a gorilla to write a book.
Afghanistan cannot be won. Kill every single bad guy (impossible) and their very society will cause more to arise.
The USSR had unlimited ROE that you would expect of them. And they left after a decade or so. You cannot civilize them. And that being true, there simply is no “win” to be had there.
Whether in 5 days or 50 years, it will be a violent hellhole within days of our departure. We are wasting lives at this point.
