How Rick Santorum is laying the groundwork for another presidential run
Yahoo News ^ | January 28, 2014 | Chris Moody

alk about campaign trail déjà vu.

As hundreds of bundled-up supporters gathered around him on a freezing January day, Rick Santorum towered over a lectern and rallied his troops. Aides pecking at smartphones lined the perimeter of the hotel conference room. An army of young children scurried across the floor. Volunteers collected email addresses and phone numbers at a fold-up table near the door.

The people, the “candidate” — even the weather — gave the event a presidential primary campaign feel. But this scene played out in the Capitol Hill Hyatt in Washington, not a Sheraton in West Des Moines — and there won’t be a presidential election for another two years.

It’s at events like this gathering before the March for Life, which marked the 41st anniversary of Roe v. Wade, that Santorum is conducting a presidential campaign in waiting. There were banners, aides, supporters, a stump speech — a whole campaign-style apparatus organized by Patriot Voices, a conservative advocacy group the former Republican presidential hopeful founded after ceding the field to Mitt Romney in April 2012.

I'll vote for Santorum WHEN he pays the state of Pennsylvania back for the cyber-school education that his children received while residing in Virginia. (The state paid the school district part of the money back - Santorum never paid a dime).

And don't bother to tell me that it was a democrat who brought this up - it was wrong, illegal and immoral. PA has had strict school district boundaries for as many years as I can remember - it matter where the child LIVES, SLEEPS, EATS, etc. with his parents.

As far as I’m concerned, if he was paying taxes to the state of PA as a resident, he should have been legally allowed to use the same methods to educate his children as any resident of PA. It shouldn’t matter where the child LIVES, SLEEPS, EATS, etc. Otherwise, PA should give him back all the money he paid in taxes.

If he did not pay taxes to the state of PA, that is another story.

It would be another losing bid.

Even his last name is depressingly funereal.....

I think of “sanatorium”, when I hear his name. A place for the sickos to recover at. Maybe he should check into one.

I think Santorum is a good man but he will never be PTOUS. But it’s a free country and if he wants to run he should run.

In real life, the kinds of Christians I know who are preachy in the ways that Huck and Rick are, are usually dweebs who are more hat than cattle, and who cause strife in their voluntary moral pronouncements.

I am a Christian. I believe in Christ, He is my Savior, and I believe the Bible is our instruction book and more. I also believe that when Rick Santorum used the term "Family values" so frequently in his campaign, it was ugly and vain. If he meant "Christian values," that's what he should have said. His constant harping on "family values" alienated Americans who aren't family-centered or if they are, don't consider being so a "value." I think that what he was really doing was backhanded reminding of Newt's divorce status.

The kind of guy who would do that, is the kind of guy to steer away from. I'll take a simple sinner over a sanctimonious one.

That’s not the point!
I will probably vote for Cruz or Lee or Paul or whatever.....
I’m just sick and tired of the hysteria and foul, nasty posts whenever his name is mentioned at FR

He doesn’ t deserve that......not at all.

He seems to be a good man, but what some people may be reacting to is his persistence in running for president despite his inability to inspire most republicans. There will always be some posters on a site, particularly one this large, that will say things that are rude and callous. It’s unfortunate, but a fact of life.

Your post is so offensive I don’t even know where to begin........

Try refuting my facts in post 51. How can an honest description of Santorum be offensive?
