Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has cleared the way for Eric Cantor (R-Va.) to succeed John Boehner as the next Speaker.
Ryan this week said he's not interested in becoming Speaker, preferring to head the influential Ways and Means Committee in 2015. Boehner has repeatedly said he's not retiring at the end of this Congress, but that hasn't tamped down speculation that the Ohio Republican is considering retirement.
The Hill recently surveyed dozens of Republicans in the House and the consensus was that the only lawmaker who could defeat Cantor is Ryan.

I dislike them both. I have very little reason to ever vote for a Republican again.

When ‘Boner’ trashed the Tea Party a while back, I figured that he wasn’t running again.

Every day that Boehner retains a position of party leadership and House leadership is another mark against Republicans.
The best the Uniparty offers are mental cases: Boehner and Pelosi.

What makes Ryan thinks he's going to get re-elected? I'm originally from his district, and have friends there and they are pissed. Even if he doesn't get a primary challenger, conservatives are going to stay home.
Ryan has completely gone Beltway.

At some point, a crucial point, Eric Cantor, will be recognized, as a Romney type sleazeball.

The GOPe may have a lot of hubris in thinking they will win the House. People may not like Mr. Obama, and the Liberals will only trash him a bit as long as he keeps the Liberal faith and helps unite the Democrat Party.
The Republicans have thrown out much of their base and shown that the Republican Party has no principles other than greed, ambition, and corruption.
If Mz. Clinton is nominated, the information from the 900 FBI files and the NSA spying will come into play, and I would expect here to win handily and bring in a Democrat House.

Cantor wont join House Tea Party Caucus
House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) is taking a pass on the House Tea Party Caucus.
The second-ranking House Republican told POLITICO on Tuesday that hes not joining the group started by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) because he sees it as more of an organic, grass-roots movement rather than a Washington entity.
Cantor praised Bachmann for providing another avenue for people to have their voices heard but said he thinks the tea party is better left outside Washington.
