Planned execution in Texas draws high-profile protests

HOUSTON — Secretary of State John F. Kerry and a former Texas governor are part of an international coalition trying to halt Texas' execution of a Mexican citizen this week. Edgar Tamayo Arias, 46, is to be put to death Wednesday for fatally shooting Houston Police Officer Guy Gaddis in 1994. Gaddis, 24, had been flagged down near a nightclub by a man who accused Tamayo of robbing him. The officer arrested Tamayo, handcuffed him and put him in the back seat of his patrol car. He was driving away when Tamayo drew a concealed pistol and shot Gaddis three times in the back of the head. On Tuesday, a federal judge in Austin rejected Tamayo's request for an order that would have prevented Gov. Rick Perry and the parole board from considering his clemency petition until the fairness of the state's clemency process could be reviewed. The judge found that the clemency process satisfied constitutional requirements and did not violate Tamayo's right to due process of law. Tamayo's attorneys vowed to keep fighting. "The Texas clemency process is the weakest in the nation, in the state that executes the most. Allowing Mr. Tamayo's fate to be decided by a board that has refused to provide meaningful consideration of evidence that Mr. Tamayo has mental retardation and that his trial was fundamentally unfair as a result of the violation of his consular rights is an affront to what clemency is supposed to be," the attorneys said in a statement. They have petitioned Perry to grant a 30-day reprieve and the parole board to commute Tamayo's death sentence to life in prison. Tamayo, a laborer from Morelos state, Mexico, was in the U.S. illegally at the time of his arrest.

If he was sufficiently mentally competent to enter our country illegally, commit armed robbery, conceal a gun from a cop who knew he was armed, and then shoot that cop in the back of the head three times, he’s sufficiently mentally competent for lethal injection.

“The Texas clemency process is the weakest in the nation, in the state that executes the most.”
I’m reminded of Texan Ron White’s comment-”Other states are trying to abolish the death penalty...mine’s putting in an express lane”

Even better, many illegal aliens commit violent crime and are never caught and when amnesty kicks in, they will be rewarded for their criminal activity by being granted citizenship.

Oh joy.

Of course they will vote republican. . .just ask Bonehead.

Recidivism
http://www.bjs.gov/index.cfm?ty=tp&tid=17
During 2007, a total of 1,180,469 persons on parole were at-risk of reincarceration. This includes persons under parole supervision on January 1 or those entering parole during the year. Of these parolees, about 16% were returned to incarceration in 2007.
Among nearly 300,000 prisoners released in 15 states in 1994, 67.5% were rearrested within 3 years. A study of prisoners released in 1983 estimated 62.5%.
Of the 272,111 persons released from prisons in 15 states in 1994, an estimated 67.5% were rearrested for a felony or serious misdemeanor within 3 years, 46.9% were reconvicted, and 25.4% resentenced to prison for a new crime.
These offenders had accumulated 4.1 million arrest charges before their most recent imprisonment and another 744,000 charges within 3 years of release.
Released prisoners with the highest rearrest rates were robbers (70.2%), burglars (74.0%), larcenists (74.6%), motor vehicle thieves (78.8%), those in prison for possessing or selling stolen property (77.4%), and those in prison for possessing, using, or selling illegal weapons (70.2%).
Within 3 years, 2.5% of released rapists were arrested for another rape, and 1.2% of those who had served time for homicide were arrested for homicide.

Why not use what is allowed for vets to put down animals! Nicotine sulfate works in six seconds. an injection of BLACK LEAF 40, works just as well.

This one has been on TN death row nearly 20 years, saying he was abused as a child, which is why he comitted this heinous crime. Note the weapon. SHOE LACES.

19 years going on 20 on TN death row, DNA proof. He raped, strangled to death with her own shoe laces Nicki Read and then threw her body in the river. Even helped hunt for what was thought to be a missing child. The INJUSTICE system does not give a flip how much money or grief it causes the victim’s family to have this crap delayed and delayed, and then finally some anti-death penalty justice will void the sentence and give life with parole, which means more grief to fight the suckers. And criminals have MORE rights that the victim or victim’s family!

Then carry out the death penalty Utah style, with an old fashioned firing squad. Who needs drugs or chemicals?

They also forgot to add in about his trouble childhood and that he was getting his life around by working at a fast-food court so he could pay child support to his ex-girlfriend’s baby and that he loves kittens and puppies.

The pro-murderer advocates are alledging that he didn’t get a fair trial and thus does not deserve the death penalty.

Next they will argue that he should not be held responsible because he was just acting in accordance with his culture. Interesting that zero is having kerry advocate for a murderer when they don't seem to care about innocent Americans held in foreign countries.

“Death Penalty is on it’s way out the door IMO. This issue of pharma companies refusing to sell execution drugs to the states is going to eventually kill it.”

Why, might this unenlightened one ask, does a state need to use a drug listeed in the US Pharmacopia for killing a condemned prisoner?

Any Vet has plenty of the needed drug for killing animals.

PS Many Vets are not hankey wringing Libtards who oppose killing off those who refuse to obey even the most basic rules of AMerica.

Messicans raise “dinner dogs”, and that ankle biter in the Taco Bell commercial was just such a breed.

He may well have liked puppies - arguably, they are the Messican version of Perdue’s “Young & Tender” chicken.

Perhaps we should refer this question to America’s most famous ‘canine consumer’, Barak Hussein Obama?
