FREELAND If youre wanted by the police, its probably not smart to post a police departments wanted photo of yourself on your Facebook profile.
But, thats just what Anthony James Lescowitch apparently did. And he was captured 45 minutes later, Freeland police announced, fittingly enough, on the departments Facebook page.
The Freeland Police Department posted a photo of Lescowitch at 9:19 p.m. Monday, noting that Lescowitch, 35, was wanted for aggravated assault and numerous other charges. The post asked that anyone knowing Lescowitchs whereabouts to call police at 570-636-0111 or 911.
Less than two hours later, Freeland police posted another photo of Lescowitch, this time with the caption: CAPTURED!!!!!! SHARES OUR STATUS ON FACEBOOK ABOUT HIMSELF, CAPTURED 45 MINUTES LATER.
Police said they noticed that Lescowitch shared their post about him on his Facebook page minutes after they posted it on theirs, and that he taunted police in his post as well. So, undercover officers used a Facebook profile of a fictitious attractive woman to engage in online conversation with Lescowitch through Facebook, pretending to be interested in meeting him.
Lescowitch initially declined an offer to meet for a drink, but when an officer asked him where he was and said, The least you can do is come out and have a cigarette with me, Lescowitch agreed, police said.
Sure enough, when undercover officers pulled up in a car at the location he specified, Lescowitch came out and was promptly arrested.
Freeland police said they wanted Lescowitch for an assault back in the summer, and he had been ducking them since the fall. He was also wanted by Luzerne County Probation.

“I guess the guy doesnt have a job so he spends all day online?”
Kinda like a lot of folks here

Anthony J. Lescowitch Jr., 35, who as a prison inmate in 2012 spoke to students about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, was wanted for aggravated assault and other charges after a incident in Freeland last July.
Court papers filed against him Nov. 27 said Lescowitch was wanted for hitting the victim in the head. The victim fell to the street, was knocked out and robbed while incapacitated. His wallet, which contained $53 and an ATM card, were among the items taken, police wrote. The victim’s ATM card was later used to withdraw $100, according to an affidavit filed by Officer Denna Krammes, who investigated the case.
According to court papers, Lescowitch, who was also wanted by Luzerne County Adult Probation, was arraigned Tuesday morning by Magisterial District Judge Martin Kane, Wilkes-Barre, and committed to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 bail.
I thought about that.....
If a hot woman ever propositions you, and hot women typically are not attracted to you, it’s a trap.
Note to self: Never accept Friend requests from the police when I’m on the lamb.
crooks is dumb
blame it on Obama....
I'd be suspicious enough to run for the hills. I have to be careful at around "Kind of cute" too.
rofl
Are you “on the lamb” much?
People don't believe me when I tell them Facebook is for one night stands. They think people are actually interested in their philosophic ramblings or their cat.
That is so funny. You have a great sense of humor, and the talent to go with it.
Note to wanted people: if a stranger, claiming to be an attractive woman wants to meet, don’t go. On second thought, if someone is a real criminal, they should meet.
