A Catholic Navy Chaplain, who sued the Department of Defense and the Navy after he was banned from celebrating Mass at a Georgia naval base during the recent Government shutdown, appears to be the target of a Federal government retaliation.

More attacks on freedom of religion with particular bigotry toward the Catholic Church from Eric Holder over at the Department of Injustice.

Wow, now Obama and his henchman are taking on the Catholic Church.

It's the largest and oldest continuous institution on the planet...ever.
Redundant, I know.

Lotsa luck, Eric baby.

This Priest is not a Catholic Navy Chaplain. He is a civilian Priest who has a contract to perform Catholic services on the base. The article makes it seem that the contract is with the Priest personally and not the diocese, which may be true, but I don’t know.

The stunt to shut down these services was a cheap political trick as very few other government contracts were ended or suspended unless they had ended their specified Period of Performance. However, if he violated terms of his contract, he’s going to have problems getting another one.

The part about the DOJ imposing terms of a contract doesn’t ring true. The contract would be negotiated and awarded by a DoD contracting agency, not by DOJ. I think that this story has some serious factual flaws.

This Priest ought to be talking with the Georgia Congressional Delegation, who might actually be able to do something about it.

How about bragging on the Lord you serve rather than on the sinful people who are serving him.

Thank you for alerting us about this attack on Christianity by the current administration.

Father Leonard remarked that, “In China,[where he served for 10 years as a missionary] I was disallowed from performing public religious services due to the lack of religious freedom in China. I never imagined that when I returned home to the United States, that I would be forbidden from practicing my religious beliefs as I am called to do and would be forbidden from helping and serving my faith community.”

The contract would be negotiated and awarded by a DoD contracting agency, not by DOJ.

Doesn’t matter, this is the era of hope and change; laws, contracts, normal business practices, normal bankruptcy rules - none of these apply. It is whatever El-Presidente decides to do that counts.

Welcome to the world’s newest dictatorship.

In this case, if DOJ were to award a contract, then they would have to pay it. That would never happen.

The Obama administration reminds me of what would happen if you gave a bunch of angry 4-year-olds hand grenades.

The DOJ request for 60 days to review should be DENIED.

If they didn’t know the legal basis for their initial actions, that’s too damn bad.

We’re starting to look like the Cristoeros. Next they will be killing the priests and all Catholics!

Watch the Church grow then!

For those who don't know the "Christeros" were Catholics persecuted in Mexico at one time.

“Anybody still think we live in the land of the free?”

Yes on even on FR. “Cringing News Network” still does.

“I do NOT see our own government as a threat. Our own government is simply a mess.”

“Cringing” has my vote for best FR comment of the year!
