No offense..but as far as LEO’s go..nothings changed except media access and the proliferation of personal cameras. This board would be in persistant melt down if we had videos of Wyatt Earp buffaloing a cowboy or Wild Bill gunning down someone in cold blood.

to address this again...

I have found it interesting to try and define modern day Conservatism.

During Ronaldus Magnus, we had a coalition of Pro Constitution types like me who were attracted to the small government philosophy and rhetoric. But Ronaldus Magnus also would talk about law and order and judges “soft on crime”. So that was the coalition. Sort of Jefferson for small government and liberty and the heavy prudish hand of Cromwell?

Also as you so eloquently say, a reaction to the Vietnam era anti war, free love and drugs crowd. Interesting to think about.

” I am convinced we need to disarm police in the U.S. like in Great Britain. Won’t stop stuff like this, but might take some of the intimidation factor away.”

Maybe it wouldn’t, but it sure would make it a whole lot less likely that you get yourself killed during a traffic stop or some other “interaction” with one of these cretins.
As for the “LEO’s” here on FR, as far as I am concerned, they can peddle their “stories” somewhere else. I have watched them for a very long time and no one can convince me today that they are here to “protect and to serve” anyone but themselves and their commanders.

I have to go sober this year.

Invited someone to give sobriety a chance.

Still talking smack about being given another chance.

“And how many chances are you going to give us, before we come to the conclussion you will never have any intention of being part of the family and live under natural law?” Was my response.

Been a month and kinduh going okay.

Just finished breakfast, which he felt he didn’t have to take part in...

“It’s Sunday. Your Mom cooked breakfast for everyone” I ordered.

He came down and begrudgingly had breakfast.

Didn’t do squat to helo with dishes and cleaning kitchen.

Time for another life talk about the one person in life you will not Disrespect.

Dinner is coming up and by God he will pull oars and rope tonight.

43 yr old self absorbed....kant say the rest here.

Thinks he is a guest in his mom’s home.

Stoopitly asked me if I would clean my Mom’s house if I was visiting.

“You idiot. I will never be a guest in my Mom’s home and neither are my 5 brothers and sisters.

We look for stuff to do. She shouldn’t do anything when we visit.

Cept make food I only eat when I visit and I eat all if it and then we get up , automatically, and clean up.

This guy pisses me off.

Been a month....patience

In the early 70’s, there was a bookstore near the university I attended that specialized in used textbooks at good prices. They also sold other stuff like decals, bumper stickers, posters etc. One of the most popular posters showed two cops in uniform standing beside their bikes-one was smoking a joint and threatening a passerby with his gun while the other one was holding onto a frightened looking young woman while his other hand was up under her skirt. the caption at the bottom of the poster read “To preserve and protect”...

I did buy one of those posters-I’ve no idea where it is now, but when I see/hear things like this, I’m reminded of it-again...

That’s just silly. Not every situation is a rogue cop going off the reservation to hurt/maim/kill an “innocent”. Many of these “knee” padders you say are simply pointing that out. I doubt any “knee” padders will defend this situation at all. But hey feel free to fling that vile language, maybe someday in reality it will be true.

Yes, you would have to imagine that conservatism was a different animal pre-counter culture. When that came along, it must have seemed so alien and scary to the previous generation, I don't blame the Reagan-era conservatives for going all "law and order". But, in retrospect, it has reeked havoc on the very Constitutional principals that conservatism is supposed to be about and defend.

It is also ironic, but not unexpected, that now that the counter-culture generation is the establishment, the roles are reversing.

Many here on FR are still living in the '60's and '70's and don't get it that they, as conservatives are or soon will be, on the wrong side of the "law and order" stick.

Mental illness. "Special needs" is just a dumb euphemism.

Usually "special needs" refers to a genetic or birth-injury developmental delay (the kind of thing that used to be called "retarded") like multiple sclerosis or Down Syndrome, and not to mental illness, which is generally either schizophrenia or emotional impairment, and don't cause the same kind of speech patterns as do developmental delays. The passenger would have chosen that term when he heard the woman speaking.

A story from the Steppe. I apologize if you have seen me post it before, but it is a favorite story I read somewhere:

A Great Khan conquered many neighboring tribes and took many prisoners, goods, cattle and glory. He was very vain, so the Great Khan would use captured princes to pull his yurt.

One day, while rolling across the tundra, he noticed one of the princes pulling his yurt watching the wheels rotate round and round. He asked the prince “why are you watching the wheels go round and round?” The prince answered “I was noticing that what was once on top, goes to the bottom and gets covered in mud and shit.”

From that day forward, the Great Khan no longer used princes to pull his yurt.

I don’t know. It could be. I don’t remember where I read it. But not Monty Python. But who knows which came first as the Monty Python guys were pretty educated.

And he is yelling : stop resisting

Don't know which side you come down on -- the cop's or the woman's -- but it's worth noting for the new class of lowinfo's on FR that yelling orders to a mentally impaired person doesn't help them understand any better. They are slow. Officers should be trained how to treat special needs persons. We had a young Down Syndrome man killed by cops here in Maryland recently -- tased and ultimately suffocated under their weight -- because he did not understand you have to leave the movie theater after your show is over and cannot watch the next showing without a new ticket. He just didn't understand.

I also watched police cause two major vehicle multi-car accidents by ordering people to drive with extraordinary skill instead of patience over icy pavement in one case and around a blockage on the Beltway in another; in both cases, they tried to remote-control nervous drivers by forcing them ahead with intimidating arm waving and grimacing. The resulting 12-car smackpiles ended up costing the drivers and their insurers lots of money.

“Not to sound like a smart A$$,but what is special needs about the woman who got punched?”
The vehicle to haul her grocerys home?

"Its not in my job classification to be nice to Pro-Queer agenda, Pro-abortion, bunny-hugging, anti-gun, liberal pukes. "

Nor, apparently, to people with birth defects though no fault of their own, which may impede their ability to diet and exercise effectively. I guess you just like your women hot to trot and cannot imagine that any other kind are deserving of basic decency.
