GLENDORA, Calif. -- Structures are burning in a wildfire threatening dozens of homes in dangerously dry foothills of Southern California's San Gabriel Mountains.
Television images showed several structures engulfed in flames fanned by gusty Santa Ana winds that spit embers across neighborhoods Thursday morning.
Evacuations are ordered for houses at the edge of the fire.

Oh, and as a FYI, they are spending the night in jail, tomorrow being transferred to LA County Central, and at least one of the families has already started the process to file a lawsuit against the three, as well as Glendora pushing on the charges being escalated, since there was at least one injury from the fire.
Happen to have been a long term resident of Glendora, and the outrage in the city against these three is pretty intense.
It seems that many of these “wildfires” are actually arson.
The accuracy of these choppers and the super-scoopers is amazing.
Idiots all!
The accuracy of these choppers and the super-scoopers is amazing.
I went over to the Santa Fe dam recreation area to stand on the shore of the lake to witness these amazing airplanes. There were about 25 other people scattered about the water’s edge, too, some with their kids, to watch these straight-winged fire-fighter birds.
From our vantage point at lakeside, we had a clear view of the columns of smoke on the hillsides over Azusa and Glendora. You could see the whole cycle, super scooper #241 about 30 seconds behind #242. After water-drop, bank to the south to come back to the lake.
As they got close to the lake at low altitude, they bank right, hurdle the high tension wires, then swoop down to skim for perhaps 500 yards the water off the lake surface, increasing the rev on the turboprops upon ‘touchdown’ to maintain lift-off speed. Then slowly rise up and bank off right towards the northeast and again dumping the water over the fire.
They were cycling up and back in about 5 minutes each.
Awesome!
That must have been something to see.
Thanks!

Different Sect, they’re Azusish.
You couldn’t pay me to live in CA.
anyone think this will be the start of the 17th mass exodus of California? How will Moonball collect any more taxes at this pace?
They are probably not stupid, but are clearly ignorant. Stupidity is born. Ignorance is immoral. When this nation begins to expect its populace to be educated and informed, as our Founding Fathers did, our domestic problems will largely resolve themselves.
MOST of the founding fathers felt strongly that it wasn’t the government’s job to educate people, but the responsibility of parents and the people themselves to provide the appropriate education.
SOME made the mistake thinking that it is the duty of the educated hard workers to provide these services for others, and it certainly appears that over time, that minority has been proven wrong.
Education isn’t the problem here, personal responsibility is. And indeed, immorality as well.
When I say someone is stupid, I mean that they are stupid in how normal humans should interact with others, and take responsibility for their actions. I don’t mean their mental capacity nor their educational level. A twelve year old generally knows that playing with fire is dangerous. These were 20 year olds who were hanging out with their newly homeless friend. And they took a useful tool - fire for heat, and turned it into a toy.
That would be stupid piled upon stupid with a side helping of stupid.
I think my wife and I were a couple of those people; seeing that up close was great. I’m rather used to the closing of Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area when it is being used in fire support. But since it wasn’t a base camp, I guess they figured no reason not to.
I once asked one of the pilots what they did about the geese that inhabit most of the recreation areas, and they laughed and replied, ‘first we buzz the area, scatter the flock. If that doesn’t work, we do it again, and if that doesn’t work, we find another body of water. Risking a dip with the flocks around are just too dangerous.’
Deja Vu again. Was out there last May and fires were burning all the way to Camarillo.

I wonder if God is catching up on His every ten thousand years purging that He has a habit of doing. Sodom/Gamorrah, Egypt, various other places as well.
Why, oh why, dear God; don’t the idiots in Washington ever do something useful like this.
