GLENDORA, Calif. -- Structures are burning in a wildfire threatening dozens of homes in dangerously dry foothills of Southern California's San Gabriel Mountains.
Television images showed several structures engulfed in flames fanned by gusty Santa Ana winds that spit embers across neighborhoods Thursday morning.
Evacuations are ordered for houses at the edge of the fire.

Of course, its the easiest excuse to make and the easiest way to get away with it
I have no problem of sticking someone who does something incredibly stupid in jail.
At least 5 families no longer have a home, and thousands are not able to go home. There, to me, is no excuse that works.
One of the homes that burned down, the woman tried to get everything out as quickly as she could but a few of her cats can’t be located..so either those cats are hiding somewhere or they are dead
This is supposed to be the “rainy” season.
And the drought is actually getting worse. I’m genuinely surprised there are any trees/forests/woodlands and wildlife left in California. Whats left can’t last much longer because there is no end in sight to the drought.
That is exactly what the three men are claiming, that the fire went out of control, set up camp to stay warm and all hell broke loose, so they have been charged with recklessly starting a fire
As bad as the drought has been out there, they should be strung up by their thumbs.
Now if they'd only stop televising the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl / BCS Title so everyone from the Midwest and back East won't want to move someplace that's 80-90F in January . . . .
We havent had a decent rain here in a longggggggggggggg time..I dont care if these guys are homeless to be stupid enough to start a “Campfire” in a dry brush area they deserve whatever punishment they are going to get..which will probably be a slap on the wrist
It was 85 during the day yesterday. But it cools down at night.
It was 50 last night. Maybe high 40’s.
But your point is well taken. Who knows what they were doing or why they started a fire.
Well then! They should ban more guns! That seems to be California’s answer to everything....
There is no need to start a fire in this weather. They had to know this was a huge fire warning weather. Even if you are homeless you can understand that 80 in January is unusually warm. And less than 5% humidity.
Is there any information as to where exactly the fire started?
I used to live in that area
The local Ch. 5 Weatherman Henry DiCarlo was commenting on the conditions being bad for wildfires this morning. I told the wife, "well Henry just gave the heads up for the Pyromaniacs", sure enough. Damn if you do, damn if you don't I guess.
WOW that looks terrible..supposedly Singer Mansion burned down but some are saying it was just the garbage in back that got burned
It’s very dry today and I have a cough. Smoke, yeah, a good possibility.
Goin’ home now.
3 idiots set a campfire this morning.
“Amish?”
I hope not.
Where? Exact location please if you know.
Wherever it was, I will know the exact spot.
Can’t find it in any story. News reporters are so inept.
I’ve been over every inch of that whole area.
I think it’s quite obvious that I know about the 3 starting the fire...
Location of the campfire not reported, best overview here:

Well that ought to equal about 500 spare the air days in the bay area.
