Big-time movie producer Harvey Weinstein revealed Wednesday that he is making an anti-gun movie with actress Meryl Streep that is going to make the National Rifle Association wish they werent alive.
During an interview with Howard Stern on his radio show, Weinstein said the new full feature drama will take the NRA head on. He also said hes never owned a gun and never will.
I dont think we need guns in this country. And I hate it. I think the NRA is a disaster area, Weinstein said.
After first telling Stern that he shouldnt reveal too much about his secretive film, the producer spilled the beans.
Im going to make a movie with Meryl Streep, and were going to take this issue head on. And theyre going to wish they werent alive after Im done with them, he added, referring to the NRA.
Weinstein said the film is not a documentary and will be a big movie like a Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. The Hollywood heavyweight was clear that he wants to scare people enough so that they dont want to be involved with guns.
When Stern challenged his anti-gun logic, Weinstein argued that he would find a gun if something like the Holocaust were to happen and his people were being marched into Auschwitz.
However, as the Washington Times Emily Miller points out: Mr. Weinstein has been watching too many movies if he thinks the good guys find fully-loaded firearms in convenient locations to use only when necessary.
Miller also notes that the chairman of the Weinstein Company is one of President Barack Obamas biggest fundraisers.
HEY PANTLOAD! Wouldn't it be a good idea to "find a gun" to prevent "something like the Holocaust to happen"? I cannot believe how anyone who made the kind of fortune Weinstein did in Hollywood can actually believe their own BS. And Merryl "HOW CAN WE DO THIS TO OUR CHILDREN!!" Streep, aka Alar Annie is certainly a paragon of credibility isn't she?
Well Biden says we all need a shotgun.
A gun is like a parachute. If you don’t have one when you need one, chances are you’ll never need one again.
The gun range however....
In short, box office failure.
I'm sure the NRA is all aquiver, Harv.
Not another Free Willie sequel! :-(
Message movies always to well... ;-)
TV and movie producers create their movies for one purpose: to promote their agenda. The story line is just to get the viewer to enter into a wilfull suspension of disbelief, so that the film’s true message enters into his head.
They do not just casually throw in a few plugs here and there for their cause. The film IS the message.
I wonder if Weinstein had any relatives in the Holocaust? Perhaps they were ‘clever’ enough to figure out how to survive.
Well, pretty sure the self loathing jewish guy whine-steen will lose money on it. But he may raise membership levels in the NRA kinda like the “lyin’ king” raising firearm purchases. Maybe he can get soros and nannie bloomers to pony up some cash to make the movie.
In the past Weinstein has succeeded in making me wish I hadn’t shelled out the money for a ticket to one of his movies.
Holly-Weird thinks everyone is stupid and should listen to them. Unfortunately only enough stupid people to swing elections with the mentally ill.
Well there goes Meryl Streep as a viable actress if she takes part in this fiasco. I am not surprised at money-grabbing Harvey Weinstein making such a controversial movie. He has seen Michael Moore make this kind of trash and come out standing up. Let’s see how much money it actually makes.
yawn, rotsa ruck with that movie,
I’m sure it will do well, bwhaahahahha,
Oh, he's a heavyweight, all right. Good thing for him there are still women who will put out for money.
Well said.
Harvey, that is why it is called the Bill of Rights instead of the Bill of Needs.
In other words, you have the right to own a gun, should you ever need one.
And God help you if you ever need one and do not have the right to own one.
