After she wrote a critical review of the new Mark Wahlberg film, Lone Survivor, Glenn Beck offered to fly LA Weekly reviewer Amy Nicholson to his studio in Dallas so that she could read her review to Marcus Luttrell, the former Navy SEAL on whom the movie is based.
I mean this sincerely -- I will fly you first class, Beck said. I will put you up at the Four Seasons You will dine on the finest possible food, and you will come in here and you will sit down and speak these words to Marcus Luttrell. If you have the bills to say what you just said to Marcus Luttrell and back it up, go for it.
In her review, Nicholson described Lone Survivor as a jingoistic snuff film that preaches brown people bad, American people good.

Back in 2000 when I was Ed at Off-Road,com, we exposed the local chapter of the Sierra Club advertizing a 4x4 expedition into supposedly closed land. Think about that for a min.
I had the SC legal Defense lawyers on the phone regularly demanding we take down the articles we wrote about it under threat of suit.
We refused and in turn, wrote several articles about those phone calls.
Strangely they stopped. Imagine that.
And his 1% also causes a bunch of chaos. Sure he does good. And he should be commended when he does. But burying your head in the sand about the far more frequent times he does not deliver on his wild speculative and hyped to hell claims isn’t beneficial and just encourages more of it.
Which distracts conservative every time he does it. When they could be making real progress.
Funny how....the penny drops.
Hasn't distracted me one bit.
“wild speculative and hyped to hell”
Some of those times I think people backed out on Beck
As for the gay bit, he’s said he doesn’t want them sent to Russian ovens and doesn’t want them to be fascistic in their behaviors. I am cool with that, too. I just don’t want perversion shoved in my face—since it appears to be on the rise.
Yes. I am defending Beck. He’s wrong on the BC, though. Flat out WRONG.
I don’t want gays shoved in ovens either. Of course no one in Russia with any power to do so is even hinting at that.
Leave it to Mr. Hype to get out in front of a non issue for ratings instead of slamming the hell out of the gays that DO VERY MUCH hate hetro guts.
Mrs. Nicholson’s little Amy sounds like a highly uneducated ***hole. What the hell would she know about war, Marcus Luttrell, the SEALs and “Lone Survivor”? I’ll bet the ditz couldn’t even find Afghanistan on a map. She probably hasn’t read the book or even seen the movie. The ho needs to shut the **** up and take her jingoistic “brown people” bull**** over to Tehran. They’d love her over there.
Yet here we are arguing about a guy that should ALWAYS be on our team, yet often isn’t. I’d say neither of us is accomplishing a whole lot right now.
Women like this will be the first person to tell men they can't have an opinion on abortion because they've never been pregnant. I like to tell them they can't have an opinion on Iraq/Afghanistan because they've never worn the nation's uniform.
Usually shuts them up pretty quick.
Truth be told, for either of us to accomplish a whole lot right now, we really ought to get off FR where pretty much everybody agrees on the core principles, and get out where people need some preaching/education and conversion.
Outside of that, I'm not arguing. I'd like to think my posts have promoted/recommended Beck's books, the Blaze network etc. and let the readers make their own opinions.
That's how conservatism gets advanced.
I would pay some serious cash to be allowed to watch the outcome of that calamity.
Which shows that we do not in fact share core principles here. Personally, my principles have no place for helping promote people who often oppose my beliefs/positions.
Matt Axelson and James Suh.
Marcus Luttrell and Muhammad Gulab who took Marcus in and protected him from Amy's "little brown people" Taliban buddies.
"Brown people"? What the hell is little Amy talking about? She hasn't got a clue. She gets an "F-" on this film review. Ditz.
I have been listening to him for about 3 years now. The only issue I have is when he goes off about "the big announcement" that will bring the administration to it's knees.
She's proud of her work, and is an avid historian.
Think before you deride, slackjaw.
Not sure what you consider "often," but while people may object to Beck's delivery and style, with a few exceptions, Beck is generally consistent with other small government conservatives and moral libertarians. He's done more scholarship and research on the roots and history of the progressive movement than pretty much any other notable conservative. He's passionate about America's founders, and while there may be some self-styled hardcore Evangelists who will decry Beck's Mormonism, no less than Liberty U gave him an honorary doctorate. For every instance you can give of where Beck may have strayed from or opposed conservative orthodoxy, I'm certain one can find at least 9 instances where he's stood tall for it. 10% disagreement does not an enemy make.
I have had the pleasure of knowing two women with Masters in Library science. They are two of the smartest women I have ever met. One did her internship at the Library of Congress and they paid for her Masters and put her in the "Rare books" conservatory. She was 25 years old at the time. She is now the assistant director or that section. And yes both of them are staunch conservatives.
Has he put on a few pounds since he left Fox? Or maybe it’s just the glasses.
I oppose his caving on Romney at the last min. I oppose his nebulous and possibly mormon related floppery on gays. I oppose his BC BS which seems to me to be ratings driven. I oppose men who cry on command for sympathy. I oppose men who use their past alcoholism for the same reason. And I are one so it’s not an abstract concept.
As I said, he HAS done good things. Ann Coulter did many good things too. But as she proved, her conservatism varies with wind direction.
Would you personally trust him with the life of your family based on his public actions? I wouldn’t. And what he is doing contributes to the lives of my family and to yours. Personally when I total my scorecard, he isn’t in the black. There are far worse out there to be sure. But he ain’t helping.
Why don’t folks on the left coast just show up at that bitches house and let her know what they think of her. We need to execute the same tactics of the left against them and this crap would stop today.
