Maui County police says the late state health director Loretta Fuddy died due to cardiac arrhythmia as a result of stress after a Makani Kai Air plane crashed off of Molokai last month.
An arrhythmia is a problem with the rate or rhythm of the heartbeat.
Fuddy's death has been ruled as accidental.
On Dec. 11, the plane lost power off of Kalaupapa. Nine people were on board the plane including Fuddy. The pilot and seven other passengers survived the crash.
The pilot and a passenger who swam to shore have said Fuddy appeared fine while bobbing in the water after everyone exited the plane and waited for help to arrive.
Fuddy's brother, Lewis Fuddy, says she was healthy and didn't have any known heart problems.

The possibility of sharks would have been enough for me to pass out. Did she pass out from the heart racing, but still breathing until water got into her lungs? They didn’t say that and I’m assuming that any water found in her lungs would have been reported?
Darn shame. The landing was as good as the Pilot could get. Wonder if they had started for shore as a group earlier if that would have made a difference? Just wondering.

That I could believe a twist coming like your scenario says a lot. Nothing would surprise me with this bunch in THIS Administration.
Almost reads as if they couldn’t find the cause and heart rhythmic problems would fit. It also is believable.
That is interesting. Every now and then I read about an older person dying on a roller coaster or some type of fast ride. Could be stress, might not have been. I wonder if she could feel the arrhythmia (symptoms) at all and told her co-worker?
