Following Japan's proclamations that it will take over another 280 'disputed ownership' islands, it appears the increasingly dis-approved of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's path of militarism and provocation is working.
As China Daily Mail reports, citing experts, China intends to take back Zhongye Island - 'illegally' occupied by the Philippines, according to the Chinese.
The Chinese navy has drawn a detailed combat plan to seize the island and the battle will be restricted within the South China Sea. Philippines military is building up on the island and the Chinese see as 'intolerable' the "arrogance" relying on US support.

If the U.S. is ousted from Asia, where all global growth is occurring, it is finished as power. This has nothing to do with the Philippines.
America needs to bring back American manufacturing.
Now.
China wants to get back their investment in a navy thats all. Without help the Phillipines have no chance against the Red Navy—Will America back them—UNDER OBAMA? No way! They have bought him off—and bought off American Debt. They own us—we can and will do nothing but symbolic action. Japan is re-arming and too weak to fight just yet. They will do nothing. China will seize the Islands ASAP —Just watch. China is Moving South—Next Target Vietnam. Lets see of the Vietnamese can win against China—No Liberal Media to focus on crule baby killers of the People’s Liberation Army! No movie stars to demonstrate about “imperialism” No Jane Fonda or John Kerry. The Vietnamese better start learning Chinese.
the broke portuguese and the nearly broke uk weren’t going
to hold those territories in the face of prc resistance.
seriously what else would one think the brits would have done
when they could barely hold onto the falklands against a somewhat lesser opponent?
“America needs to bring back American manufacturing.”

That would be nice, but you have those pesky labor unions, and affirmative action programs, all of which add to the growing cost of living in the US.

China better not cross any of Obama’s red lines. We all know what happens then.
Confiscation may be the only way some of the more brain dead Liberal Free Traders wake up on Communist China. Free Traders supporting Communist China fight in the DumbArse Line every day with the Global Warming kooks.
We should not be dependent on Communist China for anything. We can make all that in the USA.
It would be better off to do away with the Keynesian Free Trade policies implemented after WWII...they are no longer practical in 21st Century
Poppycock.
Bunk.
“...”There is a mutual defense treaty with the US.”...”
The hypocrisy of he-who-shall-not-be-graced-with-a-name is simply stunning, isn’t it...
Appalling that he expects it, and even more astounding that he believes it actually will happen.
“Hong Kong was permanently ceded to Britain. It was just the New Territories that were leased.”
I was in Hong Kong for two weeks and also in Macao and the country side. This was just before Hong Kong went back to China. There was much talk there that the lease of Hong Kong was soon to be over. I talked to business people there and read/saw the news there and it was common knowledge plus the business people told me, companies were quickly moving their money out of Hong Kong before that lease was over.
It’s Typical.
You are correct. See my post 76.
Interesting. Thanks for making that point. IIRC, it sure wasn’t how they sold in the news at the time.
