Following Japan's proclamations that it will take over another 280 'disputed ownership' islands, it appears the increasingly dis-approved of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's path of militarism and provocation is working.
As China Daily Mail reports, citing experts, China intends to take back Zhongye Island - 'illegally' occupied by the Philippines, according to the Chinese.
The Chinese navy has drawn a detailed combat plan to seize the island and the battle will be restricted within the South China Sea. Philippines military is building up on the island and the Chinese see as 'intolerable' the "arrogance" relying on US support.

Yep, America to the rescue! The last thing these cowards will be thinking about as their hands and feet are tied and the muzzies begin doing their SLOW and drawn out slice and dice act with a dull blade, will be their whimpering begging pleat for help. Help that is not coming....
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

The U.S. and the Philippines are negotiating to expand the presence of American warships and service members at Filipino bases, deepening an already close alliance and providing the fleet door-step access to the contested South China Sea.
The talks center on an access agreement that would allow the Navy to dispatch ships more often to Subic Bay; to store spare parts, supplies and hardware there that would be useful in a crisis; and to temporarily base sailors and Marines there.
The presence of U.S. forces in the Philippines is still a touchy issue two decades after the U.S. left its huge and long-standing bases there, such as Naval Station Subic Bay and Clark Air Base. Officials with both countries say the push is part of an attempt to work more closely together not an invitation to re-establish the bases.
“The Phillipines ran us out of Clark and Subic.”

That is much ado about nothing. There was a mutual agreement to end the US lease. The base area has been converted into an international trade zone. The Philippines does not despise America. Many Americans retire in the Philippines. I am one of them.
Entitlement is something cowards embrace.

“...The Philippine government last month also said it was drafting a plan allowing joint use of its bases with the United States and Japan, another country that is separately locked in a bitter sea dispute with China...”
“...anyone ever seen any other golfer doing anything like that....?”
Not even female golfers strike that kind of girlish pose.
“Any military planner making assumptions like that is an idiot. Battles have a way of getting out of hand quickly.”
You are right. This war will be contained until one of our subs sinks a couple of their ships. On any given day we can take out their surface fleet.
” From what he has shown so far, I suspect China already knows the answer to that question.”
Meaning if FINA/TOTAL or the French Government have no interests to protect, Obama will do nothing.
If they do, watch out, because Obama will go war, legally or otherwise.
Just ask the Lybians, Somali’s and Syrians about this.
Hong Kong and Macau were leased for 100 years.
Holy crap dude, there would be a bauble and toy gadget shortage in that scenario!!!
My orders came through. My squadron ships out tomorrow. We’re bombing the storage depots at Daiquiri at 1800 hours. We’re coming in from the north, below their radar.
China realizes that it has 3 more years to exploit while Bath House in the WH. Time to get while the gettins good. Bath House will do nothing.
We are on the cusp of WWIII.
Best bone up on Duck and Cover. And on avoidance of downwind radiation. Seriously.
Be careful! I hear that Daiquiri is even more dangerous than Detroit.
Hong Kong was permanently ceded to Britain. It was just the New Territories that were leased. As the lease neared its end, it was apparent that the incredible population growth after 1949 meant without the watershed provided by the New Territories, Hong Kong would not have an assured supply of fresh water to sustain the Crown colony. Britain didn’t bother negotiating an extension to the lease and gave up its claim to the entire colony.
Capitalism will break down if we go back to spheres of influence. That is the entire premise of post WW-2 U.S. policy, to keep trade and trading avenues as open as possible and to allow the dollar to serve as a global currency.
China is being very dumb and short sighted.
