PSALM 121
1...I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2...My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
3...He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
4...Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5...The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. 6...The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. 7...The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. 8...The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

DEAR LORD, who suffered torment, agony, and death upon the Cross to free our souls from the chains of iniquity, protect and defend our troops. Guide them in the performance of their duties. Strengthen them to endure hardship, danger and deprivation in Your service. Let their efforts free the people of Iraq and Afghanistan from the chains of terror and slavery, foster a lasting peace in the region, and bring all to a greater share in Your Mercy. Amen. |

Good afternoon LUV and (((HUGS))). We finished taking down the last Christmas decorations today. Getting back to a normal house and the pets have a big question mark on their faces again.

I'd like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. I've been running back and forth to my sister's house so I haven't been keeping up with the notes and don't really have time to thank you all individually, though I would really like to.
It's a comfort to know you are out there.

That one is not in my repertoire. I've been singing liturgical music for more than thirty years in a formal context - sixty years as a student or parishioner. After all that time, I'm amazed at how much liturgical music I don't know.

It is pure “Americana”. It probably has it’s origins in the tent meetings and sawdust trails of the 19th century.
I love the old stuff but I keep writing new stuff! Usually Blues and R & B based arrangements. Gotta reach out to those Bikers, you know.

Our most recently departed pastor at my Church set sacred text to popular tunes. When I heard this, I thought it would be a neat idea to find a liturgical text for "Under The Boardwalk." Unfortunately, I don't have the musicianship to make it happen.

The "under the boardwalk" ostinato lends itself to many phrases - I just couldn't find a text that I could work in to the melody.

Psalm 47
Come every one, Clap hands, and shout to God with joyful praise... Oooo
For the LORD Most High is the King of all— the — Earth!
He subdues nations, beneath our feet, oh— yeah-—
The promised land is ours, and our descendants whom He Loves.
God Has Ascended (With Mighty Shout!)
Let us sing praises (To Our King!)
For God is King Over— (Over all the Earth!)
Let us Praise Him (With a Psalm)
Let Us praise Him, Our LORD!
(just an idea)

It’s very hard to get Scripture to “scan” with pop music, because the meter is different.
It is actually easier to write a whole new melody!
I recently set The “Whole Armor of God”(Ephesians 6) to a Motown inspired Groove.
