BROOKLINE Caleb Jacoby, the 16-year-old son of Boston Globe columnist Jeff Jacoby and his wife Laura, has been missing since about 12:30 p.m. Monday.
Jacoby is a Brookline resident who is in the 11th grade at Maimonides School. According to a flier distributed by the Combined Jewish Philanthropies and Maimonides School, he is 5-foot-11 and 140 pounds with a thin build and short, light brown hair.
Brookline police said the teenager was last seen wearing navy chino pants or jeans, a navy polo shirt, a brown winter jacket with a hood, brown shoes or sneakers, and white socks. He frequents public libraries and Young Israel of Brookline on Green Street.

Never heard of him but pray they find their child.
Jacoby's a great newspaper columnist here in Boston...one of only a small handful who are worth listening to.
7 degrees F in Boston right now.
I don’t understand why the police say they don’t suspect foul play, what is it then? He doesn’t seem like the runaway type
Prayers offered.
Prayers up for the young man and his family. Hopefully he is not the victim of “knock out” game players in this cold.
Two things come to mind....1) Brookline is a very wealthy suburb of Boston and the Maimonides School is a very wealthy, upper crust school where the kids are well behaved and from good backgrounds (even though many of the parents are liberals).Maybe the kid was depressed.Or...maybe the outrageously cold weather...*dangerously* cold* weather...we're having is a factor.
Is it me, or is it just weird that the Boston Globe wouldn’t run a story on one of their own? (nothing as of this comment)
Went missing on “Blue Monday”, the purported most depressing day of the year.
But the Boston Globe/Boston.com still hasn’t deemed to post any alert in their paper or on their web site.
I’m no fan of Mitt Romney, but I am reminded of how he mobilized the enter Bain Capital company to search for an employee’s lost teen—and miraculously found her in dire circumstances.
I agree. Jacoby is not ideologically one of their own, and it’s hard not to wonder whether that makes a difference to the liberal management—even though they wouldn’t acknowledge such even to themselves.
If one of the kids from our high school “disappeared” it could only be foul play. None of the parents would go along with a teenager’s scheme. The kid’s cars and license plates are on file. This kid looks pretty innocent and hapless. Same as the kids from our high school.
One of the moms who has some association with the FBI and is a lawyer demonstrated to her daughter and mine just how easy it would be to grab them.
The cops better say what they mean, I doubt this kid is hiding out at granny’s. The only other thing I can think of is his parents are splitting up and one of them took off with him.
I think Mitt Romney is the kind of person who would be a gret father, husband, friend & boss, just a bad politician. If Caleb was the son of a LIBERAL columnist at the Boston Globe, I am sure they would be sending out the alarm over his being missing.
If only Mitt weren’t a Mormon...................that makes him hard to relate to, Gods and interplanetary stuff
