At least 38 million U.S. adults drink too much, and most of them are not alcoholics, according to a new Vital Signs report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
For every one person who is alcoholic there are about six who are problem drinkers, drinking enough to adversely affect their lives, their health, their work situation or family situation, CDC director Dr. Tom Frieden said.
Three-quarters of Americans who drink too much are considered binge drinkers. This includes men who consume more than four alcoholic drinks in one setting and women who consume more than three.
But excessive drinking can also include high average drinkers (men who consume more than an average of two drinks per day or 14 per week and women who average more than one drink per day or seven per week). Any alcohol consumed by pregnant women, people under the age of 21 or people driving cars or operating heavy machinery is considered too much, Frieden said.

There you go...
From the article: For every one person who is alcoholic there are about six who are problem drinkers, drinking enough to adversely affect their lives, their health, their work situation or family situation,
I’m sure there were many times when I had at least 4 drinks and went home with a woman who had at least 3. Fortunately neither of us would remember the next day. Sometimes blackouts are good.
I don’t drink anymore.
The Medicos are also screening for firearms.
Well....I’ll trust the CDC, when I trust Obama....(never)....I think people KNOW if they have a problem. I have been wondering...HOW much alcohol is in a “drink?” I drink about 4-6 oz of red wine before dinner....it doesn’t affect me, my sleep, or my life. The article says women who drink something 7 times a week (that’s me) have a problem....what BUNK.
Have you tried non-alcoholic replacements? O’Doules isn’t bad for beer. There are non-alcoholic wines as well.
I sent a message to your mail.
and, furthermore....one time my husband had me take a “health quiz” for the corporation he worked for, so we could get a “discount.” I told them I had a glass of red wine with dinner....the report came back saying I drank too much...which I thought rather odd.
I used to break out in spots. I got drunk in Dallas and broke out in Austin. I got drunk in Los Angeles and woke up in Japan. In my car!
But seriously, if someone at AA told you that you don’t have a problem, it’s probably because they don’t want to admit that they’ve got a problem. The bottom line is this: “If you want what we have, and are willing to go to any length to get it, then you’re ready to take certain steps.” If you don’t want it, or is you want it but aren’t willing to go to any lengths, then you’re not ready. It’s pretty simple. The decision is yours and yours alone.
Good luck to you, brother.
NEW YORK For seven years, Dr. Thomas Frieden has been the nagging conscience of the nation’s biggest city, the man who made sure New Yorkers couldn’t smoke in bars or eat french fries cooked in artery-clogging trans fats.
Frieden served as head of the New York City DOHMH from 20022009. The agency employs more than 6,000 people (shovel ready jobs!) with an annual budget of $1.5 billion. He also chaired the New York City Board of Health, pursuing “an unapologetically aggressive public health agenda.
Back in the 70s my brother and I were trying to “quit” drinking. He told me there was a new thing called “Near Beer”. He said “You can drink a few of those and smoke a joint and you won’t need to drink real beer.” Later we laughed at the alcoholic thinking.
If you play it backwards you get your dog back, your truck back, your wife back..........and sometimes you stay sober.....
>> I did the tea thing for a while.
Shotgun an ice-cold can or quart of plain seltzer. Makes for the best belches ever. And you can still smash the can against your forehead, or use it as an ashtray...
Seriously, keep your fridge stocked up.
O'Doul's is OK, but Becks, Clausthauller, St. Pauli Girl, Kalibur (a dark beer) are all really good... can barely tell you're not drinking real beer.
And You might be a Redneck.
PS. I are one.
PSS. Never happened to me. I swear.
Most government bureaucrats are not aspiring totalitarians, but .....
....no use taking any chances!
