Theres nothing like a guy with a few million bucks to lend instant credibility to a previously penny-ante movement to split up the state of California.
Venture capitalist Tim Draper of Silicon Valley has filed paperwork for a November ballot measure that would divide California into six states, calling the Golden State as presently constituted too big and bloated.

I don't know how the six state idea came about, but if they could succeed in the State of Jefferson concept, I'd be ready to move back and get closer to my grandkids.

Two would be good.
Let the coastal counties go — from LA to the Oregon border.

Hope not, then that would create at least 10 new liberal senators.

Any guesses on how many are solid blue? I’d say 4 of 6.
A Democrat delight for the Senate.

ONLY if Dems are guaranteed ten more senators for life like DiFi.

Not true, at least a couple of those states would be right of center, and Silicon Valley would probably alternate between RINO and Prog-Dem.

The rest of the country has been saying for YEARS now that Texas’ provision to split into 5 states for more representation in Congress is “null and void” and nothing to pursue.
Of course the West and East Coasts should monopolize the agenda in DC. What could go wrong?

Initiatives like this are just plain depressing. They never go anywhere.

Why can’t we divide the entire country into Red America and Blue city states known as ‘pits of squalor’. The libs can have their ‘diversity, multiculturalism, sexual revolution, wealth redistribution’ paradise, and the rest of us can just be normal.

RINO is no better than a Dem. My point is, no conservatism will come out of that split.

You are correct.
I lived in California for many years, and vast areas of the state are rather conservative.
The big population centers.....primarily Los Angeles and San Francisco....screw up the national and statewide elections.

I want so badly for that to be true. They can proceed with creating their socialist paradise, and we can wallow in our unequal capitalist misery.

The only way to make this to work for us would be to split Lassen and Modoc counties into five states and let the rest of California remain California.
That would provide ten additional GOP Senators.
To: Baynative
That would give bambi his 57 states.

Don't forget the Electoral vote count.

Well if you add 5 states that would be 57 that would be almost enough for helping Obama keep up with his Agenda of 60 states as he spoke of in this clip
Obama Claims He's Visited 57 States
Remember he wasn't allowed to go to Alaska or Hawaii and he still had one other state to visit !

What will they name them?
I’d like to suggest, from north to south:
North California
New California
Fagaragua
North Liberaland
South Liberaland

That might actually be a good thing for Conservatives. Most people don’t realize that California has some very strong conservative regions. However, these regions are gerrymandered to assure a liberal will be elected.

Six new Liberal Senators, maybe, but the remainder would almost certainly reflect the much more conservative values of the “red” parts of California.
Splitting California roughly along the San Andreas Fault may be a more rational way to divide that tormented land. Of course, a fairly wide buffer zone would have to be established as well, to be sure San Francisco would not be accidentally included in part of the “northeastern” section.
