Pope Francis insistence in his new apostolic exhortation that authentic Islam and the proper reading of the Quran are opposed to every form of violence is drawing negative reviews from some analysts of the religion who point to the Islamic holy books calls to wage war against nonbelievers.
How does he know that? When did he become an imam? wonders columnist Pamela Geller.
She notes as an example the Quranic passage that states: So when you meet those who disbelieve [in battle], strike [their] necks.
At a time when Christianity worldwide is under siege by Islamic jihadists, the leader of the Catholic Church claims that the Quran teaches nonviolence, Geller writes. ...

Maybe because authentic roman catholicism is exactly what the reformation folks told us it was...
Perhaps Francis needs the second coming of Martin Luther?
Have they LEGALIZED marijuana in the Vatican?
This Pope is truly confused.
Maybe not — being as this pope is about as far from authentic Catholicism as any pope has ever been.
The state of Roman Catholic thought is... just... weird.
I firmly hold to an affirmation of the POWER of Christ to keep even the most oddball of those who have accepted His salvation saved. I do not have a problem there. He does it anywhere His name can be called upon. No human if’s, and’s, or but’s intervene! (Otherwise, we have a salvation theology of Christ plus. Even the Sola Fideists are sometimes theologizing Christ plus... i.e. plus a humanly held Sola Fide doctrine!)
But the THEOLOGY (we’re on a human level now) has gotten badly polluted.
RE: The Pope is an idiot and definitely not infallible.
The Pope is not speaking ex-cathedra, so yes, in this regard, he is infallible.
Would you be surprised if he brought a supply of “the good stuff” with him from South America?
He's just another man, like you and I. No better, no worse. I need Jesus. He needs Jesus, too.
I just wish all these people would focus on God instead of some old guy who lives in a gold mansion in Rome.
Amen and Amen. Im certainly not what I of as a scholar but I have read enough of the stinking koran and the hadiths to know how very wrong the pope is.
Perhaps he has some inside word on al qaidas plans to fly a plane or two into the vatican, and is trying to buy them off?
The Pope's propaganda seems to be similar. Anyone who has read up on Mohammed and the Koran knows that what he is saying is definitely not true, but those who haven't bothered to find out what Islam teaches might believe him.
The Pope is spreading propaganda about Islam and I find that disturbing. Priests in the Jesuit order are highly educated, so it's not like he doesn't know.
One small consolation is that this was an Apostolic Exhortation, which Cardinal Burke says contains no definitions of doctrine and is not a part of the papal magisterium.
Burke: "Exhortation Not Part of the Papal Magisterium" (Link)
Magdi Cristiano Allam, Robert Spencer, and Raymond Ibrahim should have a good, long talk with Pope Francis.
you meant to say, I think, fallible. even in the Roman Catholic system.
“This Pope is truly confused.”
How about this Pope is being deliberately duplicious regarding Islam, just as Obama.
Electing commies edidently is working no better for the College of Cardinals than it did in the Electoral College.
Checked my Bible and didn't find this "ex-cathedra". Is it in the Douay?
Why is the pope pretending to be anything other than a liberation theologian????
The Pope might have an understanding of Christian doctrine, but he sure as hell doesn’t understand the Muslim religion.
The answer to that is that he sees that the Republican parry has openings for a leader lately, and...?
