Susan G. Komen for the Cure saw a 22 percent drop in contributions in the year following the controversy over its decision, quickly reversed, to stop giving grants to Planned Parenthood for breast cancer screenings.

They want to pander to Planned Murderhood, then I, and people who think like me, will have nothing at all to do with them.
A neighbor stopped by about a year ago to ask me to sponsor her for a foot race. When I learned it was Komen, I gently explaine to her that my conscience prohibits me from participating in any way with them. Haven’t seen her since.
A temporary stoppage lost them 22% ongoing? IMO it's far more likely that the revelation of PP support is what cost them the contributions.
Newton said for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
They were stupid for choosing a political side.
By first dropping Planned Parenthood and then bringing them back probably made people mad on both sides of the issue (pro-abortion and pro-life were probably both antagonized by Komen).
Komen used to be completely uncontroversial. They threw that all away, egged on by the Pro-Choicers who could not let such a great opportunity to mainstream their message go to waste.
They deserve to lose 22% and a lot more.
On the plus side, I now have a "good reason" to turn down the people who are always trying to get me to sponsor them for the latest walk-a-thon.
We the People became aware all right, that these Komen creatures are pigs. It got so bad I was thinking that Rachael Ray's mug staring back at me on all that packaging wasn't so horrid after all. At least it wasn't instrinsic to the products themselves, ugh. I purposely didn't buy any Rachael Ray-faced products, but at least companies didn't stamp an image of her face into the crackers and fry pans, lol.
I think they tried tying the color orange to her product lines, but orange is an outlier anyway, so it's not like kitchens or pantries would ever "become one" with Rachael Ray.
Enough of the Komen curse. May other odious campaigns-for-our-awareness-and-acceptance also be shoved right back to where the sun doesn't shine.
I am disappointed that they saw such a small reduction. A loss of 75% would have indicated that people are waking up to what they are doing.
Even before their association with PP came out, I stopped donating to these people. I realized that they waste money that is supposedly going toward finding a cure for cancer with their stupid events. How much does it cost to give out the T-shirts and other junk they give to participants?
Heck, these people — and a lot of other such groups — have no desire to find a cure for cancer, as then they would have lost their fund-raising cash cow. Oh, yeah, and I am mad at them because they have made me hate the color pink.
Shocking! People want to donate in support of breast cancer research. They don’t want their donations supporting an abortion mill.
I refuse to purchase anything with a Komen pink ribbon on it. I will pay MORE to buy a competitive brand if I have to.
Exactly. Komen proved unreliable to both “sides.” Lots of check-writers on those “sides” quit writing the checks.
Shouldn’t the Komen family change their color from pink to gold? Man, some people know how to make money out of thin air.
