Judy Woodruff Wonders if ‘Compelling’ Inequality Issue Will Overtake Obamacare in 2014

A panel of politicians and commentators on NBC’s Meet the Press sized up the political issues that will dominate 2014 heading into the midterm elections on Sunday. The panel largely agreed that the Affordable Care Act is the most pressing issue of the day today, but they were not sure if that dynamic would still be in place by November. PBS anchor Judy Woodruff said that the issue of “inequality” is compelling and could speak to more Americans’ lives than the ACA’s implementation woes.

NBC News Chief White House Correspondent Chuck Todd began the segment by observing that the Democrats he speaks with are largely overlooking the political problem that the ACA may pose for their party in November. He said that they believe the political problems they face today will fade as the ACA begins to function as it was intended.

Rep. Donna Edwards (D-MD) agreed. “Every single day it gets better for millions of Americans, and that’s only a good news story for the administration,” she said.

Former GOP strategist Steve Schmidt insisted that, even though the ACA’s roll out is improving, the question remains that the program’s problems could be structural and not merely cosmetic.

“They have to get health care right. They’ve got to work on it,” Woodruff declared. “But, at the same time, the argument for doing something about the economy, the argument for addressing inequality is such a compelling argument.”

She cited a piece in the New York Times by former Obama advisor Steve Rattner who cited a booming Dow Industrial Average which contrasts with how average Americans fared in 2013. She said that wages have not increased on pace with productivity, and that may have political benefits for Democrats.

I wonder if I'll wake up a 120 lb, 6 foot tall supermodel in 2014. We all can dream, can't we?

There is no question about it. The problem Obamacare has is arithmetic. No matter how much cosmetic makeup they try to put on it, to paraphrase Ayn Rand, "1 = 1".

Judy, anything you make over $44,000 is mine because you're more equal than I. So, hand it over you parasitical one percenter.

They are hoping that nothing as obviously bad as the rollout happens again. Right now, I guess, they are plotting with the insurance executives and promising them a bailout if they continue to conceal How poorly Obamacare serves the public interest.

Who's income inequality is she talking about? Hers? Zucker's? Immelt's? Brad Pitt's? Peyton Manning's?

She said that wages have not increased on pace with productivity, and that may have political benefits for Democrats.

So in other words, Democrats are purposely destroying the economy because they expect to benefit politically from it.

That video of Thatcher is very inspiring. I remember Reagan also being effective at calling out leftists and putting them in their place by speaking the truth in a very understandable manner.

Obamacare isn’t going to go away because the leftist twit machine churns out other issues to bang around brain-dead, Democrat heads. Event the Obambies have enough sense to know Obamacare is bad for them.

“Inequality” is one of the most fake issues ever, and those pushing it will definitely be in the top 5% if not the top 1%.

Do you think that would be a clue to the stupid?

Exactly. I don't care how much someone else has, I only care how much I have.

This is right out of Das Kapital.

Dear Judy, I am a Mechanical Engineer and CMC. I studied vast courses of Mathematics,Physics and Science to obtain this Degree. I’ll be damned if I should feel ashamed that I’m worth more than an entry level employee. How do you feel about your accomplishments Judy? Are they worth the same as a janitor a fry cook? No offense to janitors or fry cooks.

What will all the rich democrats like Hillary and Bill do?
Oh I forgot, they are our betters, they are entitled to their millions obtained by selling out the country to China which just landed on the moon thanks to Loral Space,Bernie Schwartz ,Bills biggest donor, who was fined millions for providing the communists critical technical information to prevent their missiles from blowing up on the launch pad.
So now the traitors want back in the White House, why the hell not, they have to complete the destruction of the country, what’s left anyway

“...the argument for addressing inequality is such a compelling argument.”

What argument is that? I havent heard a rational argument yet about WHY income inequality is a big problem. If the left is concerned about this they should address the reasons why those at the bottom earn so little, a welfare culture, distain for education and hard work.

Why don’t some of the conservative guests on these shows ever make note of the fact that they are outnumbered by liberals 4 to 1—and should have more time to “equalize outcomes”

I remember when CNN was in its hey-day, their ‘news’ people used to interview conservatives by asking a loaded question preceded by “some say.” As in “Some say you haven’t quit beating your wife and children, how do you respond?”

It wasn’t until some conservatives called them on it by asking who were the ‘some’ who said the canard that the ploy was largely abandoned.

“Rep. Donna Edwards (D-MD) agreed. “Every single day it gets better for millions of Americans, and that’s only a good news story for the administration,” she said.”

The big omission is that for each new slug (non tax payer) that gets Obozo Care, anywhere from 3 to 5 Americans with previously good insurance programs before the unaffordable care act, are losing their policies. How many family members are losing their care when their main bread winner loses his or her insurance policy.

My feelings on income inequality will end the day I get a job. Therefore I think Obamacare is an issue with longer legs; it will take longer to fix/repeal that monstrosity.

Typical. She and her cohorts seem to have no clue that Obamacare has CAUSED a lot of the problems in the economy, even BEFORE its implementation. I dread what will happen if that thing takes hold.
