Get ready for it to feel as cold as MINUS SIXTY! Nation braces for coldest temperatures in 40 YEARS
Mail Online ^ | 4 January 2014 | Various

Experts have warned that Friday's freezing temperatures were simply a warm-up and that this weekend will bring a big chill for 140 million people - almost half the nation - that could prove fatal for the unprepared - and will continue through the winter.

With the Northeast still reeling from the huge storm that dumped as much as two-feet of snow across the region and was responsible for the deaths of 16 people, a new weather system is threatening to bring record low temperatures to the Midwest as a polar vortex barrels over the United States.

'It's the mother lode of cold air,' said Weather Channel coordinating meteorologist Tom Moore. 'On the heels of what will be the coldest air of the season, will be dangerous, life-threatening winds.'

Because of the winds, 'It may feel as cold as negative 50 to negative 60 on Sunday night over sections of the north-central states,' the National Weather Service said to NBC News. 'In those conditions, frost bite sets in on exposed skin within five minutes.'

Moore said that as the freakishly cold weather hits the region, authorities need to act fast to avoid a human catastrophe because of the chill.

'Anybody living out on the streets needs to be rounded up and put into a shelter,' said Moore to MSNBC News.

'The repercussions ... could be deadly, and I'm afraid we're going to see cases like that.'

The temperature predictions are startling: 25 below zero in Fargo, North Dakota, minus 31 in International Falls, Minnesota, and 15 below in Indianapolis and Chicago.

The so-called 'polar vortex' will send cold air piled up at the North Pole down to the U.S., funneling it as far south as the Gulf Coast.

‘Anybody living out on the streets needs to be rounded up and put into a shelter,’ said Moore to MSNBC News.

But there is a democrat in office, nobody is living on the streets...

Why is this news in the UK?

Becuase the propagandists here are busy giving you stories about hollywood idiots, humanitarian dribble and sensationalizing doom and gloom weather forecasts that turn out to be flurries

Lets say the warmist’s admitted defeat and finally agreed that we are in for a long cooling cycle. I’m pretty sure their solution (after a 10 million 3 year study) would be more sacrifices of personal freedom and more government control of behavior and the free market.

Of course they would need hundreds of different 10 million dollar grants to study the problem so they can come up with new and exiting ways to control the peasant/citizen’s behavior. Blood sucking leeches.

The cold mark of -60 degree was hit several times in N.Dakota and Minn. in the 1900’s. What is new? Effin’ news pussies, may be the problem.

All this cooling is due to global warming.

Prediction for SC is 12 degrees for a low the next couple of nights. We will also have to keep the water faucets on. The cats will love it, they can watch the faucets all night!

I delivered papers in the darkness that was a NoDak winter. 6th and 7th grade everyday by myself. It was always cold. From around Thanksgiving when winter finally came, -20 was usually the high until spring. You’re right though, those that have never felt the bite are the ones who don’t respect the power of the winter to kill.

It’s all in how many layers of clothing you can pile on and still remain upright—LOL!

The natives used to say if summer comes on a weekend, we can have a picnic!

Actually, there are a few very hot days in the summer—and there’s no air-conditioning, and you can’t raise a window because they are all double storm windows-—

We loved Williston and the people there in spite of the climate. Wherever you live, there are good and bad things about the local climate, I should think.

If you were nude. With certain clothing, wind chill starts to lose meaning.

Everyone should own a backup portable propane heater with a 20 lb tank of propane in case the electricity goes out. Propane heaters don’t need electricity to work. Be certain that the propane heater can be hooked up to a tank, and don’t forget the hose and regulator. You need that to hook up the heater to the tank. You can buy the entire propane setup for about $200. This heating rig will warm a small room to a comfortable 65 degrees.

I found the best price on eBay.

Luckily, I bought 2 pair and hubby finds them annoying, so when the dog decided those conductive tips were interesting, I had spares.

My husband hunted deer in Alberta Canada. I went with him on one of those hunts. I took my south Texas hunting clothes, a down jacket and a pair of wool socks. That was fine, right? It was the first of November for Heaven sake, that should be enough!

The temperature was -20 and the wind was blowing so hard you could barely stand up. I nearly froze to death! Yikes! I like cold weather, Texas cold weather!
