"A new rule in the Alabama tax code that went into effect at the end of last month will change the way some companies collect and remit sales taxes....Put simply, the new rule's aim is to have businesses pay taxes to the county and city governments in places where they do business.",,,In short if you want the store to deliver that refrigerator to your home, now they won'tbecause this requirement costs them time and money.....the state has not announced this and retailers don't know but are liable.,,,,

The state has not notified retailers of this new requirement nut will penalize them for not complying. So consumers will pay more and get less.
“If you take from Peter to give to Paul you will always have Paul’s support.”
This is part of the Streamlined Sales Tax Initiative intended to tax internet sales. As more states adopt the SSTI standards, pressure grows on congress to pass legislation that will authorize states to collect sales tax from out of state vendors selling on the internet.
Completely hashing the idea of jurisdiction. Businesses will be on the hook to any state that decides to go after them. Compliance costs will skyrocket.
I live in a sales tax free state and have a small town retail store and also sell on the internet.
I so oppose the SSTI because it’s not just state sales taxes, it’s every city, county, and indian tribe tax jurisdiction that I would have to keep track of. Sure, there would be software, but it won’t be free, it won’t be completely accurate, yet I will be legally responsible and the burden of proof is on the business, not the state.
It will be like healthcare.gov... a complete fiasco and nightmare.
The whole thing just pisses me off. Most voters have no idea what is coming.
If you take from Peter to give to Paul you will always have Pauls support.
If you take from Peter to give to Paul, Peter will get sore and you can’t do business with a sore peter!
