I’m Ed, and I’m now a Keurig addict

Oh, I resisted for a very long time. I can’t claim to be a coffee traditionalist, really, thanks to my preference for flavored coffee. My father likes to scoff at me for that whenever he visits out here, but I like the real thing as well.  I drink it straight, no cream or sweetener whether flavored or not, and I brew it in large pots, totally full, every single time. And most days I drink all of it, too.

All of that changed when my sister bought us a Keurig system for Christmas this week while visiting out here. Specifically, she bought the Keurig K65 Special Edition Gourmet Single-Cup Home-Brewing System (which in my old aerospace days would have the acronym KSEGSCHBS), along with the Keurig My K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filter. Within hours, I had banished my old coffeemaker to storage — in part because I needed the space, but also because it had already become obsolete.

I've been thinking of getting a Keurig for awhile but what are your thoughts on this system?

Buy one of the mid/high end models if you can. The entry models are cheap and in my experience fall apart quickly. After going through that stupidity I went back to regular coffee in nylon filters - hell with it.

I, er.....Santa got one for my wife for Christmas.

I don't drink much coffee, myself, but she's thrilled with it. It is very fast. You can also make tea with it. Again, very fast.

Two thumbs up.

Enjoy it while it lasts. Your Keurig will self-destruct in 13 to 15 months. No, seriously. Count on it.

Had ours since 2007. We love it!!

No waste - make a cup, drink a cup. Lots of choices. Kid can have hot chocolate, I can make tea, hubby can have a mocha latte.

Go for it!

If you want a fresh cup every time, it’s great. It’s perfect for my office when the client wants a cup of coffee. Quick and fresh every time. The coffee variety I’ve come to prefer, after a LOT of trial and error, is Folgers, believe it or not.

However, the coffee I make fresh ground in the Bunn is way better coffee. Sometimes I make the Bunn pot and if I want more more coffee later in the day, I’ll have a Keurig cup. I use both.

Would love to get one, hubby and I have been kicking around the idea for about a year now. Discovered a Keurig while staying at a hotel a few years ago. Had to convince my mother that we weren’t allowed to take it with us when we left. LOL My wonderful boss just bought one for the break room for our new office. YIPPEEE.

Ed, do they take your testicles away when they deliver the Keurig, cause you’re sounding a lot like a chick.

I have the Tassimo - love it.

It’s a rather expensive way to drink coffee, but I rarely make a pot now. One cup, perfectly brewed consistent coffee.

Yum.

That’s because apparently when you get hooked you make about 10000 cups of coffee a month.

Last office I worked in had one. I loved it. If I didn’t have time to stop at Starbucks, then I’d have some k-cups at my desk and it was almost as good. :)

Have the exact same model as the person in the article, it’s a great machine. Got the Donut Shop coffee and its pretty good, plus I also use my Nescafe coffee and just add water. Any good coffee brand from Keurig you recommend I am new to the Keurig scene

Me and the Mrs. absolutely love the thing. Just got one at Christmas. If you drink a cup or 2 a day then it’s probably worth it to get the cups themselves. Otherwise get the reuseable filter and get your own grinds. Fast and good!

Makes no difference to me IF Walgreens sells it for $50 or less. Do they come that cheap? I can get anything I want at WAGS if the price is at or below $50.

Rubbish. All you need is a french press and a bag of ground Sumatra dark coffee (Starbuck’s or Peets) from the supermarket. Perfect, rich but not bitter coffee every time.
