A group of climate change scientists were rescued by helicopter Jan. 2, after being stranded in the ice since Christmas morning. But the majority of the broadcast networks reports about the ice-locked climate researchers never mentioned climate change.
The Russian ship, Akademic Shokalskiy, was stranded in the ice while on a climate change research expedition, yet nearly 98 percent of network news reports about the stranded researchers failed to mention their mission at all. Forty out of 41 stories (97.5 percent) on the network morning and evening news shows since Dec. 25 failed to mention climate change had anything to do with the expedition.
In fact, rather than point out the mission was to find evidence of climate change, the networks often referred to the stranded people as passengers, trackers and even tourists, without a word about climate change or global warming.
Chris Turney, the expeditions leader, is a professor of climate change at the University of South Wales. According to Turneys personal website, the purpose of the expedition is to discover and communicate the environmental changes taking place in the south.
Twenty-two crew members stayed with the ship for the time being, as the scientists and researchers were rescued. According to CNN, the ship has enough supplies for a very long time.
Three rescue attempts had been thwarted by growing levels of sea ice and weather conditions.
"Outside, blizzard conditions packing an abnormal amount of ice in to the area for this time of the year, summer in the Antarctic," ABC News Correspondent Gio Benitez reported on Good Morning America Dec. 31.

Thanks, Chris, message received loud and clear. Mission Accomplished!!
Gaia has almost as wicked a sense of humour as God, it seems. ;-}
Happy New Year!!
Stay warm and donate ‘til it hurts.. or your fingertips go numb!
They also fail to report that it is summer in Antartica.
“blizzard conditions packing an abnormal amount of ice in to the area for this time of the year, summer in the Antarctic”
Which is caused by globull warming, of course.
I, for one, would be highly interested in seeing how this opportunist Wales Academic (hmmm....other news here today about New South Wales something or other bleating new/old global warming news that is nonsensical) spins his PowerPoint lecture about Global Warming in Antarctica where he almost became a frigging icicle-in-posterity.
The MSM could have had lots of fun with this story, had they a sense of humor and a penchant for honesty.
Anybody still think the media doesn’t have an agenda?
Not a single bay area news station has let us know: Frozen Out: 98% of Stories Ignore That Ice-bound Ship Was On Global Warming Mission!"
Yep, it’s summer down there.... and colder than they expected. Time to adjust the GW models.
The modern day muddling along media has abrogated its dutie both as jourmalists and citizens.
It is left to sites like Newsbusters, Drudge, Twitchy, etc to get the word out.
The ‘fun’ is left to us. :-}
saw the story on Fox and BBC today and not a word about them being from the Global Warming Army
In other news, the sea ice is covering an area that is the greatest in the 35 years that records have been kept. FWIW, that was reported before professor Lonney Tunes left on his “expedition.”
I hope the ENTIRE WORLD laughs at them and sees how ridiculous their AGW scam is!
SCIENTISTS?!?!?!?!?!
Must be a misprint. These guys are trying to make man-made global warming look as though it is not a hoax.
Being in even more depth, a sharp and unbiased reporter would ask the question “ which is worse, global warming or global cooling?”
Cooling the globe would kill magnitudes more people than warming it
The FACT that this ship was on a global warming mission is, as the environmentalists like to say, an inconvenient truth.
The media doesn’t report the news; it “shapes” it to fit the left’s agenda.
And they say ‘shape shifters’ don’t exist.
SHift HaPPens..
Comedy gold.
They’re all global cooling deniers.
