Talk Radio on WABC Shifts Focus to the Local (Curtis & Kuby take Rush slot)

Weekday programming at WABC will include the return of Curtis Sliwa’s and Ron Kuby’s show, “Curtis and Kuby,” from noon to 3 p.m., after an absence of more than six years, and, starting Monday, a one-hour program at 5 p.m. with Pat Kiernan, the NY1 television anchor.

Geraldo Rivera, who joined WABC in early 2012, will turn his focus to New York news in a two-hour live show at 10 a.m., as Cumulus announced in November. Michael Savage’s syndicated program, which has been heard in the evenings, will now run from 3 to 5 p.m. “Imus in the Morning,” with Don Imus, will continue from 6 to 10 a.m.

I used to listen to 77 WABC from sun up to sundown, since Disney sold the station and the programing director, Phil Boyce has moved on, it has become second rate. Jerry Rivers, stinks, “The I Man” is a shriveled up, mister mumbles, has been. I turned off the station and never went back.

I am currently enjoying 1210 WPHT in Philadelphia.

I may listen to Curtis and Kuby again.

I’m amazed you can hear WOR up there, ABC is a powerhouse, that I know.

Listening to radio on the computer is a great advance, that’s what I usually do now.

Yes, on computer or smart phone...Boston’s Howie Carr was filling in for Levin a couple wks back and I tried to get WABC on TuneIn but it wouldn’t allow it for some reason so I got it from some station in Joplin MO instead.

I did hear WABC clear as a bell in Beverly MA on my car radio that night and then went into a restaurant (fried scallops, yum) and heard Carr in for Levin via smartphone.

Savage replaces Hannity on KSFO.

I don’t care for Hannity. His style and format don’t add much to my day. Doesn’t make him a bad guy.

But, I fail to see how Savage and his insanity adds to the time slot.

Moreover, Clear Channel has moved Rush and Hannity to a station I never listened to before and don’t recall being familiar with.

I guess they feel KSFO is solid and now they want to lock up another station.

Yup the I man is getting up there. He was on an FM talk station in Boston for years, even doing his Kiss Me I’m Imus shows on St Patty’s Day from up here. After awhile he got reduced to an hour or two on WTKK Boston, then finally taken off, then the station switched to R&B. If I really wanted to hear Imus on terr. radio a station in Portland ME has him, and it comes in across the water (Imus, Laura I, Ingraham, D Miller, Hannity etc; WZAN 970)

The problem with Curtis and Kuby is that Curtis is now as mad as a hatter. Between his outrageous private life and his out-of-control behavior on 970AM for the last couple of years, I just can’t see him being brought to heel. He caused infinite trouble at WABC and it was not helped by Kuby’s duplicitious behavior during that stupid trial in which Curtis was suing the Mafia (if I recall correctly, lol!)

Yes one time here in Boston I was getting WEEI sports talk on 850 WEEI and they announced at 2 am they were going off to do work on the transmitter and when they shut off, KOA 850 boomed in. KOA...from Denver!
