Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio vowed to act quickly to abolish horse-drawn carriages in the city.
"We are going to get rid of the horse carriages. Period, de Blasio said in response to a question at his press conference announcing his schools chancellor pick Monday.
Its over, he said.

I have no problem with horse back riding or carriage riding. I have a problem with what horses have to go through in that damn city.
“...cant wait for the city to start bleeding Yorkers...”
I’d rather they all be locked up in NYC and not allowed to spread the disease!
BTW - New Yorkers: Arizona sucks! Sucks big time! Rattlesnakes and 125 deg heat! No water! Life is not worth living here! Stay away!
Does the NYPD still use mounted police ?
Its gotten a lot worse - worse and worse each year.
I posted before reading the article. I think I got snookered.
In other Kaiser Wilhelm news a new 8 million dollar program to help out of work horses will be started in New York. They will receive OBT cards (Oats benefit transfer), subsidized stables and Obamaphones to help them look for work. The program will be administered by Wilhelms drug addicted lesbian daughter at a salary of $500,000 per year to make sure the private industry doesn’t steal away her talent. She will oversee a staff of 100 close family and friends of Wilhelm to administer the handouts and retrain the horses in computer science.
Both of your questions are, imo, incomplete.
You leave the word "matter" up in the air leaving the reader to figure out the object of the word "matter"
My wife is Filipina and she speaks pretty good English ... with entertainment.
I came home from work shortly after we were married to find the refrigerator almost completely empty. When I aked why, I was told the things she threw out were "broke"
Broke means going bad or gone bad ... like the ripe banana's I use for banana bread was broke, so now it's gone.
She still uses "broke"
Yesterday she babysat our grandchildren (girl 9, boy 6) and she was telling me that Debra (gd) parlored her hair.
????
"Parlor" apparently can be a verb for ... grooming / brushing.
What does it matter?
Liza (my wife) can not take a job in the public because, though she uses perfectly good English ... amusingly succinct ... it is noticed by some of my not so amused relatives.
What does color matter?
Sorry ... not only is America still somewhat racist ... we are more so now because of the zero administration and DeBlasio IS noticed by not so tolerant Americans.
You're fine...New Yorkers are headed north...flooding into soviet Red Hampshire...this state is pretty much ticks, queers and New Yorkers...
Its unfortunate - thre is so much history and so many museums etc in that city. But when you put Liberals in charge of a place, New York City is what you get.
And the horses must be dying every second
Most horses go around the park. The mayor should buzz off and. He doesn’t need you and PETA supporting more government regs
I apologize for expressing my opinion.
Yeah, my guess is that when he decides to go whole hog on his ‘War against inequality’ and it goes unchecked, billions will leave the city, and tens of thousands of jobs, and pass the popcorn, please.
True
LOL. Tourists will flock to NYC to have an electric vehicle ride through central park.
Vinz Clortho!
I looked for that pic and couldn’t find it.
Like all other animals, if no one is going to ride, eat, observe, train, interact with them, then there is no need for their existence. No one is going to keep a milk cow as a house pet.
He has a point. It is said that all horses living today are descended from the Arabian horse, which originated in that country with a cool, temperate climate known today as Saudi Arabia.
It is so nice to know that NYC has the government it deserves.
“Keep horses in places where they ( and normal people) would be happier.”
Even if it means killing an entire industry? What about the mounted police patrol horses. I don’t hear anything about that
