On CNN, Marc Lamont Hill Defends Melissa Harris-Perry, says Romney's Family Photo Was Exploitation

Clear? This was just good old-fashioned, harmless, light, fun-poking based on the self-evidently silly and mockable notion of Mitt Romney exploiting a black child to make up for being so white. Isn’t that fun and light-hearted and tra la la?

Please note the New Rule in Hill’s comments. Taking a family photo with a member of your family is exploiting that family member. Using that photo to make fun of republicans as racists is not exploitative at all, it’s just clean harmless horsing around. Why any second now Hill is going to snap a towel at Mitt in the locker room and oh, how we’ll laugh. Good times.

I just went to Hill’s website and wrote two scathing emails, which I erased before sending. I guess we shouldn’t stoop to their level. But, regarding the picture, this is what so enrages me: Romney’s family adopted a black child, by every indication a noble thing, and he dissed it, mocked it.

Shut up. For a racist, you cannot make someone white through cultural conditioning. For a true racist, biology is everything. Romney's father was known - in his time - for being fairly advanced on civil rights issues. On the other hand, Al Gore's father voted against civil rights laws.

Using your logic, everyone in the South is still a racist because the South was once mainly racist. Mormonism changed it's views on blacks about the same time the South did.

Who would plaster his Twitter page with police mug shot photos of convicted cop-killer Assata Shakur? Fox News contributor Marc Lamont Hill did. At least until David Horowitz and Accuracy in Media took notice and wrote about it. Now the page features photos of boxing great Muhammad Ali. Hill's MySpace page is also gone.

There are other changes as well. The tributes to Shakur and black racist Khallid Muhammad, known as "America's Black Hitler," have disappeared from his web pages. The articles were saved, however, and can be found here.
