A closeted gay student living in West Monroe, Louisiana has written a powerful essay, criticizing the town's most famous residents - Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson.
Robertson made headlines after issuing homophobic comments in a GQ article, at one point comparing gay sex to bestiality, which got him put on suspension by the A&E network. But the network announced yesterday that they would be reinstating Robertson to the show, who so far has remained unapologetic about the comments.
In an essay posted on Times-Picuyne columnist Robert Mann's blog, the communications student writes that Robertson probably didn't mean to hurt anyone with his statements, he nonetheless created a hostile environment.
'He encouraged - hopefully unintentionally - a two-week-long "fag bashing" in Monroe and around the world. He made me feel unsafe in my own home. I can't count how many times I heard "faggot" over the Christmas visit home.'

Anonymous—How convenient.
...then who the ell in your house is scaring you moron...you can always tell a BS teller by the way they contradict themselves
I really don’t care.
Thanks for setting the record straight.
I doubt that anyone in West Monroe is going to harm him because of Phil...If someone tried, it would be a man like Phil that would come to the rescue in the time of need.
these guys are pretty pitiful...not very smart....not handsome or vigorous..not educated or talented....they'll work at low paying odd jobs their whole lives....
but they seem happy....
I feel sorry for people like this because they aint' got much to go on in this world....and I won't refuse them the little pleasure they get from being together....everyone needs a friend and a companion...
and, I have just a few gays in my extended family as well....I can't hate them....
but what I do hate are these obnoxious, arrogant prissy little punks like this guy in the story....
oh, how we have been lectured all these yrs about how they just "want to be left alone" and that is not what they are doing....they want to be queens for the day and exalted....I will not nor ever exalt them....I'll tolerate...I'll feel bad for them and their differences....I'll never understand them....but I'll never respect them nor exalt them...
“He encouraged - hopefully unintentionally - a two-week-long “fag bashing” in Monroe and around the world.”
“around the world” - talk about hyper-hyperpole!!!!
I see his problem right there.
He's a 'drama queen'.
I would suggest that he step away from his keyboard for a few years until he grows up - clearly he's not yet mature enough to handle the Internetz without suffering a faux emotional breakdown from discovering that someone, somewhere has an opinion that differs from his own.
If you are patient and read far enough, they always out themselves. Just like the judas goats and moles on this forum who masquerade as Conservatives.
Perhaps it was FAXed from a Kinkos in Abilene, Texas.
Tough luck, Princess.......Phil made it clear the beliefs you will find in church, but you went anyway. Christians speak truth, we are not lynch mobs, though. You are safe in your castle.
Many places in USA to have a “gay old time”.
I suggest relocation.
In other words, “Look at me!! I’m a special snowflake!” The world waits motionless for the next profundity from some other self-absorbed freak. Guess what, homo, God cares about you; I don’t. If you’re so worried about being attacked, get a gun.
He is unsafe in is own home, in the sense that he has an elevated chance of contracting nasty lifestyle diseases. /S
Any statement of absolute truth will make post-modern people
“uncomfortable”.
“hearing his preacher say homosexuals didn’t deserve the same joy of raising a family due to their depravity.”
Pastor speaks the truth. Homosexual parents are missing what every child needs — a mother.
Also, homosexuals tend to lead highly promiscuous, unhealthy lifestyles — not good for parenting. The hyper-sexed homosexuals actually have a name for their open marriages — “monogamish.”
It’s the same fight Rush has had to do for decades. People reacting to what others claim he said rather than what he really did say. The kid should be more upset at those who are making things up. Imagine what a world it would be if they were held accountable for not getting their facts straight.
Good. If you can't respect the truth, fear of the truth will do just fine.
Then I guess he must leave the planet.
