More than 1.1 million people enrolled in ObamaCare before a December 24 deadline for consumers seeking healthcare plans that begin Jan. 1, the Obama administration said early Sunday.
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Marilyn Tavenner said in a blog post that more than 975,000 people enrolled in a qualified health plan through the federal marketplace in December, following a rocky rollout in October. Detailed demographics were not released.
Tavenner called the late surge “welcome.”
“Our HealthCare.gov enrollment nearly doubled in the days before the January 1 coverage deadline compared to the first few weeks of the month,” she said. “December enrollment so far is over 7 times that of October and November. In part, this was because we met our marks on improving HealthCare.gov: the site supported 83,000 concurrent users on December 23rd alone.”
Tavenner said administration officials expect to see enrollment ramp up through the six-month open enrollment period, “much like other historic implementation efforts we’ve seen in Massachusetts and Medicare Part D.”
The administration said Friday that the HealthCare.gov website adequately handled a massive surge of Internet traffic ahead of last Tuesday's deadline.

Why are they ALL moochers? Some of us lost our jobs in Obama’s economy and are now without health insurance. And some us, ahem, are not very young.
I’m trying to avoid Obamacare like the devil but try getting a decent job in this never ending recession.
While I agree that the number of Medicaid recipients is certainly increase to beyond the point of financial sustainability like so many of Obama’s other entitlement endeavors like SNAP, I think that this socialist government is probably forcing many unwilling citizens onto the Medicaid rolls just in order to get them hooked.
Where is it I wrote “all”? It’s just more incentive for some not to work.
But where is the work?? My family went from a 6 figure income one year ago to being out of savings today. Some of us don’t know where to turn.
Of course, that’s counting all of the users who were registered 7-8 times for one attempt.
How many have actually paid their premiums?
One million out of what? 375,000,000?
How many have paid their first month’s premium? They are not “enrolled” until then.

Doctors and hospitals won’t take this crap so enrolling is a sick joke = Obama’s Holocaust.
13 million policies cancelled, 1 million sold.
What a success, only 12 million out there who previously had insurance ,with no insurance Jan. 1st.
