Morning AB; All. Happy New Year and hope you all had a nice Christmas.

My anecdote of the week is kind of sad.

Do yon regular readers recall my story about a choir mate with whom I’d had a run-in? After church a few weeks ago he stopped in the aisle at mass and said “Your friendship is very important to me”.

He was blubbering, as was I. His friendship was important to me as well. We’d known each other for ten years but he’d gotten annoyed because Kaitlyn came to choir practice, along with a bunch of other young kids and poor guy, he was in so much pain.

Anyway, in the days leading up to my choir party he kept fretting with me. “I don’t think I will be able to make your party as I’m having all kinds of tests.”

I was so bummed out and he was just another one not going to show up; seemed I would have a party and no one came. I peered at him and thought he seemed very troubled. So I stopped and regarded him closely. Damn all these medical tests during Christmas week. “Are you sure this can’t wait until after Christmas?”

By then I wasn’t asking due to my party, the guy looked so distraught. I told him to do what he must, all will be fine.

Yes. He died on Christmas day.

I knew he was going to die.

He knew he was going to die.

I knew that he knew he was going to die.

He needed a bypass but two of his veins were shot and his heart was badly damaged.

I sadden a little bit because I now know that one thing he desperately wanted to do before he died was get in my good stead.

I am not worthy.

Evidently he’d been having horrific heart problems for a long time but his wife had undergone a knee replacement surgery and had to be put into rehab to heal. It took her a long time but at the funeral yesterday one could see her walking well and without a walker.

Patrick (really Pasqual but I always called him Patrick) had evidently been functioning with awful heart pain just so his wife could heal and go on without him.

My husband did the same thing. It’s what good men do.

Anyway, went to funeral service, which was a mass, so did my weekend church thing and mingled with Patrick’s family.

Thank you AB for doing this thread so reliably. Had a nice Christmas, no complaints, but mourned for Billy mightily.

The whitewash continues or has started to smoothe the Benghazi 'event' for 2016 and a possible Clinton run for the WH.

A top congressional Republican is saying a new report that concludes Al Qaeda did not carry out the 2012 attack on the U.S diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, is “misleading.” The new report published Saturday in the New York Times concludes that there was no evidence that Al Qaeda or other international terrorist groups had any role in the assault that took place on September 11, 2012, and that it appeared that the attack was fueled in large part by anger at an American-made anti-Islamic video, as the Obama administration first claimed.

Just another lie among lies -- what difference does it make?

DNC Dave opening up his pathetic show with the nyt piece on "it was the video stupid." Hard to imagine these guys have stooped so low. Everyone knows it was a well coordinated attack by Ansar al Sharia with pinpoint accuracy of their mortars that killed our guys.

The nyt guys now parsing what the meaning of what al queda means,its what does "is" mean all over again. Hard to imagine why these guys are trying this. Rice: "a spontaneous outrage to the video by locals. a group of armed men who deliberately attacked an embassy." No mention of pin-point accuracy by mortars or military precision of the attack that was carefully planned and orchestrated.

The NY Times did an investigative report and discovered, in a twisted manner, the Benghazi attack was a result of a video that made the Egyptians mad who rioted, then in Libya they followed suit?
