Females in the Marine Corps will not have to meet the physical fitness standard--set to go into effect as of January --of being able to do at least three pull-ups, the Corps quietly announced on social media.
Unlike their female counterparts, male Marines have long been required to do at least 3 pullups.

You may have seen it somewhere, but it isn’t true.
“Go hang your head in shame for this outburst. Remember your post lives forever.”
Duly chastised. I thought I was being humorous. The value of pull up capability is not open to question. Pretending that women should be man-to-man combatants in a real war will contribute to the present suicidal folly of the political faux leaders of our beloved Republic.
Forty lashes w. a wet noodle administered.
Actually in my experience it is true, that is with the caveats I mentioned.
What I am basically saying is a lot of people become far better athletes after they have been out of school a While and it is often expressed just like I said. I ran a 9.7 hundred yards, which I can prove.
I can’t tell you how many guys I have run across who were faster than that or so they claimed.
As a man, I never ran into that fake cliche you are trying to push, you were pretty specific.
That is very fast, but my brother did 9.6 in about 1955 (Washington State high school meet), followed by an injury and end of career.
I mostly did not run the 100 tho I was the second fastest sprinter on the team. I ran the 120 yard (110 Meters now) High Hurdles. I also was on the 440 relay team. We had two others who could run 9.7 but in races we ran together, my 9.7 was a tiny bit faster than theirs. Of course they now time in hundredths of a second.
We had another sprinter who a couple of times beat the world’s record holder at the time. His name was James Batie.
I was in the mid-nines in the hundred meter in high school but got smoked by the black guys. I was relegated to relay and middle distance. We had state champion sprinters and distance runners, routinely won conference and region but never managed an overall state title for the team, regrettably.
If you were in the mid 9’s in the hundred meters, you could have easily beaten Usain Bolt, the current world and Olympic record holder.
Meant yards, sorry. Changeover to metric happened after I graduated.
Depending on the size of your state, if you ran a 9.5 for a hundred yards you would have smoked all the Black guys in your state except for maybe one or two.
Who are you trying to kid!
Combat is a lot more than shooting on the range.
What I recall is state champion sprinter on the team doing 9.4, and that I wasn’t in contention at 9.75, I ran backup in relay when needed. It’s been over 30 years, maybe memory isn’t serving me well but that’s what I recall.
Because a single standard will not give lefties the result that they want.
“Gee, they seem to have a hard time finding those females now.
Who are you trying to kid!”
I am not trying to kid anyone. These ladies did this. They did not need to, because the requirement was different for them. Then again that was 10 years ago. There were a couple that couldn’t do more than 2 or 3, while the male Marine options could rip out 25.
“But on test day, the researchers were stunned when only 4 of the 17 women succeeded in performing a single pull-up.”
Did they not do a single “practice test” to judge how the women were doing?
Just to clarify (not to argue) - I presume you mean INFANTRY and mechanized infantry - i.e., boots on the ground. I agree with you there. I am OK with women being TRAINED to succeed and contribute in a firefight, but NOT be deliberately deployed in infantry/ combat arms roles.
Do you also mean women should not be in missile batteries, logisitcs, etc., that MIGHT encounter enemy troops?
Written in a positive tone - you would say “I am OK with women in the militray in roles such as ______ and ______ .” Just curious.
I agree.
I am just sayin’ women who are taught to shoot by their USMC RO, and have never shot before, are often better shots than guys/recruits who think they already know how to shoot. ;-)
