RNC issue a statement honoring Kwanzaa

Yes, the Republican National Committee WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus and RNC Co-Chairman Sharon Day released the following statement commemorating Kwanzaa:

“I want to extend my best wishes to all who are celebrating Kwanzaa,” said Chairman Priebus. “For families coming together to mark the occasion, I hope it is a joyous time of celebration with loved ones–and a time of meaningful reflection ahead of the New Year.”

“From December 26 through January 1, many families will take time to celebrate African culture and history. Kwanzaa is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to honor the importance of family and community, and it reminds us of the great diversity in America. Happy Kwanzaa!” said Co-Chairman Day

The Kwanzaa Celebration here in Fayetteville will be at the Smith Recreation Center this Saturday, the 28th, at 5:00 PM.

Kind of scanty attendance, the pictures seem to show maybe 100 from 2010 and 2011.

Interesting to flick through the pictures. Shaka Zulu? Didn’t he kill off a bunch of Blacks?

I’m inclined to cut Prince a little bit of slack on this one. Can you imagine the hubbub if he ignored the fake holiday? The outrage if he were to point out it’s a fake holiday? The press would be drumming for his head on a pike if he so much as mentioned when the holiday was created (the ‘60’s).

To paraphrase Nikita S. Khrushchev, the RNC is petrified with fear of the press like a rabbit in front of a boa constrictor.

Yes, but the RNC is working hard to keep it alive, even though most blacks have given up on it.

I doubt if many blacks even embraced Kwanzaa in the first place. For one thing, Kwanzaa terms come from East African languanges, whereas the forebears of most black Americans came from West Africa.
