"Five Things A&E Did Wrong has become the hot parlor game among TV industry execs at holiday get-togethers."

"A rookie mistake. Thats how one TV industry veteran whos put in time dealing with rogue reality stars described A&Es handling of its Duck Dynasty nightmare."

"Someones going to have to back down, said one industry vet, predicting its not going to be the Robertsons. Either [A+E Networks CEO] Nancy [Dubuc] says, This is not the position of the network and we respect Phils religious beliefs, and we all move on from there, or I dont think the show survives on A&E, the source continued.
Theyre going to have to apologize, agreed another. If they want them back, theyre going to have to eat crow. Theyll probably do it right after Christmas. Look for a note sometime over the next week and a half."

As for recovery from homosexuality being "not...that difficult a challenge for Christendom," recall that very often it is the result of open defiance of God--see Romans 1. So, that defiance is central, and generating a turnaround in those whose hearts are so set is anything but easy. But God is still on the throne.
Um, this may be a factor, and yet the need created by the symptom can be used to great advantage. It isn’t anywhere near all homosexuals that have scorned a cure in principle; this used to be quite a popular quest of psychiatry. Psychiatry wasn’t able to access the spiritual resources to effect a full cure. So it eventually acquiesced.
We Christians should know better. I think part of the complacency problem of modern Christianity is that t thought any old heterosexuality was okay, even adulterous — and thus forgot how to offer sexuality to God to be sanctified! Statistics bear me out here, I believe. Look up divorce rates for professed believers vs. general population.
I am not as blanketly negative about the possibilities. I don’t think the “difficulty” should be used as an excuse. The gospel rises above ALL sin not just SOME sin. The “difficulty” SHOULD alert us to steel ourselves to bear our crosses faithfully (the crosses of opposition) as we march into that melee. But the gospel promise is that the quest is so, so worth it.
I can. I can even see them attending their mandated "sensitivity training" (a.k.a. re-education camp) before this is over.
People don't understand how vile, hateful and how powerful the Gaystapo now is. The Robertson's might have a lot of money and prestige now, but wait until Obama's goons (the IRS) get ahold of them. When your livelihood and all means of support is taken away by fascists, you can resort to some pathetic depths to get by.
There’s layers on how this kind of thing works. Phil’s contract will include some boiler plate language barring bringing bad PR. This would be what got him suspended, frequently that section is referred to as the “morals clause” but that’s only because the most common ways stars bring bad PR involve immoral things like drugs and hookers, the clauses usually focus on the publicity not the behavior.
The other big layer is the interview prep. Whenever somebody gives an interview there’s generally stuff they (or their employer) wants them to discuss and stuff they (or their employer) doesn’t want them to discuss. This all gets negotiated before hand by the agent/ handler/ rep, technically the one being censored is the interviewer, they are being forbidden from “gotcha” questions that distract the reason of the interview. The way it’s enforced is that if the interviews doesn’t obey the rules the interview is over. Now what’s a gotcha question of course varies from person to person but given the state of things pretty much anything related to gays should be on everybody’s banned list because it’s not possible to give an answer to that without making somebody mad, when you’re sending somebody out there to promote the new season of the show spawning boycotts is not the goal.
Now it’s important to understand that just because something is banned from interviews doesn’t mean the person can’t discuss it, but they need to know their setting and audience and be aware of the PR implications. If Phil had (and he probably has) said those things while guest sermoning at a church nobody would care, that’s a limited audience that’s pre-selected to agree with what he’s saying, no bad PR will happen. Totally different than saying that stuff in the magazine that basically invented metro-sexuals and a significant percentage of the subscribers is gay not to mention the whole available free on the web thing. No longer is the audience limited, and a lot of them will not agree, bad PR ensues, next season of the show not properly promoted.
Thanks for taking the trouble to explain that. It’s mostly clear to me now.
I agree that God can rescue anyone, and that we should not give up on anyone before God does.
And, if the Lord grants us wisdom that we might have lacked in the past, we should use that wisdom. I think the good Lord has come hollering to my door with this.
I think a partial factor in the gay craze is the gospel preaching being weak in the area of affirming sexuality. We’re still too Puritan about that. Everything else Puritan has pretty well passed so why not this sexophobia? You can talk about it decently, because 99% of being a good, sexy Christian does not involve copulation.
And believe it or not... even a contrary character can be an asset. The contrariness needs to be pointed at Satan not at God, then let it go to town. Even contrariness has to be based IN something or it would be a haphazard force, spinning like a weather vane.

Sorry if this is ambiguous. I mean its fighting end should be pointed at Satan. Its root should be in God. It would have been the other way around before being redeemed.
Thanks for adding your interesting insights. I appreciate those who want to carry the Gospel into the day’s current battles—and there is no question human sexuality is a major front in this spiritual war.
Oh wow, it can be carried in, and with a hey nonny. Satan never evolved to anything God couldn’t handily take care of.
While I don’t intend to exalt myself, what do I do if I have a firebrand idea for the gospel and nobody else is listening?
Right now I have been putting the urge into song writing. I have written some very emphatic songs, that think outside of the churchy hymn box and yet the theology is orthodox.
Ask God.
Duh, the obvious. Cobbler’s kids going barefoot. Yes I will pray more.
The women in the industry have closed ranks. So have the gays.
D.D. is done on A&E. Which is probably the best for them both.
They knee-jerked with the anti-Christians and stepped right in you-know-what, only pulling their foot out when they realized that the Christian customers had had about enough.
I don't care — it's not relevant to the issue I brought up: your words and attitude here are very dangerous spiritually. Don't you remember what Jesus said about forgiveness?
Matthew 18:21-35
21 Then Peter came and said to him, Lord, if another member of the church[a] sins against me, how often should I forgive? As many as seven times? 22 Jesus said to him, Not seven times, but, I tell you, seventy-seven[b] times.
The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant
23 For this reason the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his slaves. 24 When he began the reckoning, one who owed him ten thousand talents[c] was brought to him; 25 and, as he could not pay, his lord ordered him to be sold, together with his wife and children and all his possessions, and payment to be made. 26 So the slave fell on his knees before him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay you everything. 27 And out of pity for him, the lord of that slave released him and forgave him the debt. 28 But that same slave, as he went out, came upon one of his fellow slaves who owed him a hundred denarii;[d] and seizing him by the throat, he said, Pay what you owe. 29 Then his fellow slave fell down and pleaded with him, Have patience with me, and I will pay you. 30 But he refused; then he went and threw him into prison until he would pay the debt. 31 When his fellow slaves saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their lord all that had taken place. 32 Then his lord summoned him and said to him, You wicked slave! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. 33 Should you not have had mercy on your fellow slave, as I had mercy on you? 34 And in anger his lord handed him over to be tortured until he would pay his entire debt. 35 So my heavenly Father will also do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother or sister[e] from your heart.

And? I never said or implied that there shouldn't be consequences to their stances.
I did point out that your stance will prevent you from being a good witness and is not appropriate for a Christian.
Your kind of Christian embrace of the wrongdoer reminds me of Christie's hug of the anti-Christian, anti-Semite, muslim resident in our White House . . . Unforgivable.
But bless you if that's your opinion, and have a happy new year.
God love you would be glad to have you
