Just a note: their pensions are not what they earn while A/D. Just remember that.

I’ll comment.

I am not a military member, nor do I have any US pension, but I do not have a problem with our veterans being taken care of by our government.

Go USA.

military should not be treated differently then any other federal employee or elected federal position.

You know, that 14th amendment thing.

All Congressmen, Senators, federal judges, and members of the Executive Branch should be able to sustain the same cuts being made to our disabled veterans. And NO WHINING from these parasites if the warriors are to shut up about their cuts.

I’m a Vet. The sooner we ALL realize that we’re Free Agents and that absolutely NOTHING promised us from Mother Government will EVER come to pass the way it was promised, the better off we’ll all be.

There’s not going to BE ‘retirement’ for any generation beyond ours. There’s not going to BE Social Security and the healthcare system in America is being destroyed right before our very eyes.

If we haven’t planned for our OWN prosperity and needs as we age, we’re dinked.

A LOT of us are dinked.

Anyone recall Pelosi’s statement that a cut in pay or benefits would be an “affront to the dignity” of congress critters?

Via x-box spying they creeped-out young people, and now with fears of looming dictatorship they decide to anger the MILITARY...?

Yesterday I wrote a response to Paul Ryan, doubling down on this. I will add all the press into it too that somehow thinks this is a good idea.

Sorry, Paul, Boehner, other congressmen, Senators, and any and all press who believe this is some kind of good idea, and that those being subjected to it can "afford it." Your are completely wrong-headed and out of touch on this.

Anyone who thinks it is somehow okay to reduce the cost of living adjustments for working age military retirees, does not understand who we are talking about. Or if they do, as I said, the are completely wrong-headed and out of touch.

For those suggesting such a travesty, I suggest that they just try the following simple experiment to help them understand exactly what they are doing.

Experiment for all supporters of the idea to cut military retirees cost of living:

Each of person who believes working age military retirees should have their cost of living adjustments be cut should voluntarily sign up with the US Army, US Marines, or some other branch of US military service. They should then voluntarily go into harm's way fighting the enemies of this nation, particularly those who would have no qualms in slaughtering you by hacking your head off in front of a live camera.

Then, while so engaged in that fight, step on, or drive over an IED device that literally blows your arms and/or legs off. Survive that horrific experience, and then come home to live the rest of your life with those disabilities...in a veteran's administration that looks for every way possible to deny you care and rehabilitation over the long term.

Then have some pencil necked geeks in Washington DC tell them that they somehow "owe" it to the country to give up their cost of living adjustments to...while those same geeks earn $150,000+ dollars a year coming up with such ideas.

Only then will you be qualified to make such a suggestion...but then, having lived through that, they never would make such a suggestion in the first place on the backs of those who have already given so much.

What is the average salary of a school teacher after two years service based upon a 183 day work year with generous personal, sick, career enhancement days, paid holidays, and vacation?

Meanwhile the Dictator in our WH and his witch travel and party on our $$. There is no profanity adequate to describe these two vermin or their cohorts in Congress. RATs and RINOs must be voted out in 2014 and 2016.

It should also be noted that its quite possible to get more than this from the various welfare programs without ever having to lift a finger.

These pensions are being cut but welfare is being increased.

I love it when people decide what”other people need;” when it comes to their own budget, they use a whole different concept.

Three points:

One - my sister-in-law gets a sickeningly fat retirement from the state of Minnesota as a retired state employee. No cuts there.

Two - there is so much Medicare fraud going on and that could easily pay for this supposedly necessary cut to military retirement. No action to stop the fraud.

Three - the budget deal affected Govt civil service employees, but only the new ones. Currently serving civilians had no such comparable retirement reduction. How is that fair? Oh, I forgot, the military doesn’t vote Dem (by and large).
