WASHINGTON, December 20, 2013 — Federal employees are wondering whether the President will close the government on Christmas Eve. The order to close the government for Christmas Eve 2012 came on December 21, 2012.

According to Government Executive, “Obama gave federal employees a half day on Christmas Eve in 2009, when it fell on a Thursday and Christmas on a Friday. He did not order any extra holiday time in 2010 or 2011.”

**SNIP**

As of the publication of this article, the White House has not given any indication about Christmas Eve closures.

Federal employees have begun a White House petition to get the day off. The petition still needs more than 97,000 signatures to make it to the President’s desk.

Uh, Hussein is on vacation, yo. All hands on that defunct website?

With all those days they got off for Ramadan, this sounds pretty greedy.

Shouldn’t they be on station, working on my behalf, as my government tells me it is, 24/7? There’s no excuse for a letdown in government vigilance. /S

Q: How does a government employee wink?
A: He opens one eye.

Does anyone outside of the federal government really care about this?

When I worked, the office almost always was open on Christmas Eve. Perhaps the office would close early, but 99% of the time, I usually worked till well after the office closed. I sucked it up. I’m sure these lazy louts could do the same.

Obama told me to pass this along to all you Federal employees: “Merry Christmas! Good luck on any future endeavors. I won’t be back. Please lock up and return all property of the US Government.” I’m signing this with an auto-pen so you know it really came from Obama.

If the government was serious about separation of church and state Congress would be in session on Christmas.

Don’t they still need time to finish all that vital work they couldn’t because of the shutdown? /sarc

Might as well let them go home and at least save the light bill. They don’t do S—t when they are there anyway and what they do just makes us more miserable.

Certainly these are not the whiners who complained about the government shutdown()for which they got backpay). I thought they wanted to work.
