He shall be great, and shall be called
the Son of the Highest;
and the Lord God shall give unto Him
the throne of His father David:
And He shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever;
and of His kingdom
there shall be no end.
Luke 1: 32-33

Holy Father,
Your wisdom encompasses every generation, for from the beginning You knew we would need a Savior. How grateful we are to receive this precious act of love from You, Lord. As we celebrate His birth this week, we ask You to make our hearts ready and willing to accept the most precious Gift that has ever been given: Jesus Christ, our Lord. Let every heart prepare Him room, and heaven and nature sing.
Father, for those who are serving our country away from their families this year, we pray for Your comfort and Your peace. We ask You to hold their families close to You as well. And may wonderful acts of kindness be shared with them during this special season of joy and hope.
Our prayers are also for Israel----for the securing of her borders, for the safety of her people, and for the salvation of every soul. For it is not Your will that any should perish, but that all may come to repentance. Help the people of this nation to pray for Israel and bless her each and every day.
Over 2000 years ago, our Precious Lord left the beauty and majesty of heaven to come and dwell with us here on this earth; and the impact of His life, death, and resurrection shall forever remain. Father, let the spirit of Christmas be stirred in us all, that we may share so great a love as this with as many as we can during our lives. We pray that others would see Jesus in us in our words and our deeds. In the Name of our Savior we pray, Amen

God With Us
December 23, 2013
Read: Matthew 1:18-25
His presence in the room was obvious. Everyone else was dressed rather formally. He had on a pair of jeans, a T-shirt, and a weathered baseball cap. I couldnt help but notice him as I addressed students that day in a seminary chapel in Bucharest, Romania. I have no idea why he didnt conform to the norms of seminary attire, but I do remember his name.
At the close of the meeting he came up to introduce himself. When I asked him his name, he answered, Immanuel. I was surprised by his answer and asked if he knew what that meant; he unashamedly replied, YesGod with us!
Ive often thought about that young man and how he stood out in the crowd. Just as Jesus came to bring the presence of God into our worldImmanuel . . . God with us (Matt. 1:23)so too we are called to bring His presence into our world. Jesus made that clear when He said, As the Father has sent Me, I also send you (John 20:21).
This Christmas, we can give the gift of Gods likeness through us. When our lives reflect the God who lives in us, we can be different from the world, and that difference can bless others with the transforming presence of His love and grace.
The gift of Gods presence through you is your gift to the world.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!
GEN. GEORGE WASHINGTON THE PRAYER AT VALLEY FORGE "Let Tyrants Shake Their Iron Rod" William Billings Mixed District Choir, Fairfax, Virginia (Click)
IN THE COLDEST and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting Glory, and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

FROM THE BRAVE, albeit weary, ill-equipped, and untrained volunteers who marched into Valley Forge on 19 December 1777 arose, with the help of some gallant friends from across the waves, the cohesive fighting force that became the United States Army, global defender of Freedom and scourge of Tyrants.
AS GENERAL WASHINGTON lifted his prayers on high in that bleak Winter, let our prayers now rise like a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and envelop them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

HEAVENLY FATHER, Lord of the Nations, unto Your Divine Mercy we commend the souls of these valiant men and women who have fallen in the service of our Beloved Nation and in defense of the Freedoms we hold dear. We pray that You gather them in Your loving embrace, that You cause Your Countenance to shine upon them, and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence. Through Jesus Christ Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.
