Gov. John Hickenlooper called Thursday for a focus on bipartisanship in the 2014 legislative session, but Republicans can be forgiven for greeting his proposal with a certain skepticism.
The 2013 legislative session, often described as the most liberal in state history, may have also been the most partisan. Democrats pushed through major legislation with no Republican votes on a half-dozen fronts, including election reform, gun control, education funding, and the rural renewable-energy standard.

The governor, who was criticized for failing to veto any bills in the previous session, was asked Thursday by the Denver Post’s Lynn Bartels whether he planned to use his veto power this year.
“I’ll find something to veto, I guarantee it,” quipped Hickenlooper, adding, “That was a joke, Lynn.”
Republicans said the problem is that the governor promised a spirit of cooperation last year, yet the legislative session was marked by tension and divisiveness.
Gessler, for example, lambasted Democrats for drafting without his input House Bill 1303, a sweeping elections overhaul that ushered in same-day voter registration and all mail-in elections.

Until Hickenlooper shows he can rein in the “our-way-or-the-highway” impulses of his own party, Brophy said the governor’s talk of bipartisanship isn’t going to be taken seriously.

When do the actions of Democrats ever match their rhetoric? Even their pronouncements have parasitic, self indulging, twists to be lavish with other people’s rights and money.

“Bipartisan” means that Republicans surrender, mostly pre-emptively. When there is any dialogue, the Republicans end up complimenting the superior, ten-foot-tall, gracious Democrats, who bestow beatific smiles and gentle loving pats upon their faithful, frisking little pets.
Just before the Republicans get drop-kicked outside into a snowbank.
Bipartisanship? That’s something the left seeks only when they’re losing. When they’re winning, they have no problem whatsoever with cramming whatever they want down the throats of a minority party. Our Republican leaders, on the other hand, always seek compromise (surrender?) no matter which way the political winds are blowing, and have no doubt, many, many Americans have had as much “hope and change” as they can stomach.
It looks like you and I are thinking alike about the Democrat’s “bipartisan” scam. Bipartisan for a Democrat means, “Give me 99% of what I want, and we can cooperate on your 1%.”
Compromise and bipartisan are code words for “Let the Democrat win.”

Welcome to the state, but you should know that our politics are as up and down as our terrain. Last year the Democrats passed many horrible bills without republican input and without permitting them to amended. The Democrats steam-rolled the republicans and the people. Among the laws the governor signed were: homosexual civil unions, gun laws so bad the sheriffs sued to have them stricken, and the worst was one that legalized voter fraud. There was a push back with two recall elections and a subsequent retirement of another rather than face recall. The Governor is trying to sound more moderating in his tone, but he is unrepentant. Greg Brophy (a very good man BTW) is posturing for less tyranny from the democrats, because they still control the whole shootin match in Denver.
Bipartisanship is when the stupid party and the evil party get together and do something that is both stupid and evil.
When the rats have power, they share nothing, demand everything, and are willing to use ANY tactic to achieve their ends.
If the GOP wishes to have any role in the future, they must review their game plan because how they've played so far isn't working.
I could NOT vote for Hickenlooper the first time because he supports the Fraud of same sex “marriage” I suspected he would use the power entrusted in him to subvert the express will of the people. I was proven right. I certainly cannot vote for him to have any more years in Office as he has done Nothing to warrant such trust. That being said the Republicans need to stand up and offer as candidate someone I can vote for—not as the lesser of two evils but as a worthy candidate for the Office of Governor.
“bipartisan” -> lib-English translator -> politicians of both parties get together to do what Democrats want. Dem voters get the policies they want, Dem legislators get cover, RINO legislators get hosannas in the press, and GOP voters get....the shaft.

Exactly. Good guess. They were complete asses in past couple of years and now they have to make amends after they realized that the voters are very angry.
But mark my words, it is all talk.
