Thank you very much, fatima! FReepers are the greatest!!
Jim you have never failed in your leadership.I saw major networks take you on but you didn’t back down. You were the Rock back then and you are the Rock now.We were all on dialup,God forbid anyone post a picture not sized we would all suffer-hehehehe.The Turtle and the Hare, what a joke that was.I have seen big names come and go.But Free Republic still stands because of you.Good job Jim,and Your welcome.((((Hugs))))
Yep. It's the fastest and surest way to turn a country from it's founding principles.
It's one of the chief reasons that my wife and I home school our kids. I don't want Big Brother shaping their minds. That's my job, and I will teach them in the ways and history of our forefathers as I see fit.
They're already a whole lot better for it.
Ah the memories!
And who can forget the late great Dr. Raoul, in his devil suit with the sign: "Bill Clinton Married My Sister!"
Too bad doing the right thing only backfired on Republicans because the economy was good and the media was on Willie’s side 1000%.
“David P. Schippers, who was Chief Investigative Counsel for the Clinton impeachment, reveals in his book Sell-Out that Republican leaders, from the get-go, had no intention of holding a proper impeachment trial or of convicting Bill Clinton. It was all a charade.”
Fifteen years? Time flies! Harkens back to the days when I used to access Free Republic by going to the Drudge Report and clicking on the link to the “Whitewater Pages.” I honestly believe Clinton would never have been impeached if FR were not around.
Excellent summary of the early days. Thanks for posting, and Merry Kristmas!
Wow, has it really been 15 years already? My fellow RINOs who fought impeachment, like Houghton, Morella, Shays, Chafee, Jeffords, Snowe, and Specter are long gone and rightfully scorned as liberal traitors for years, but I'm STILL in power by convincing numerous gullible conservatives that I was "one of the good guys". Bwahahaha, suckers!
even if the Senate won't convict Impeachment in the House would stop obama in his tracks until the November elections.
Stunning! This is very important history for us newbies. There is no book on it and there needs to be. I didn’t know any of this. Jim?
Thx, kristinn.
15 Years were did they go?
“Stood there boldly
Sweatin’ in the sun
Felt like a million
Felt like number one
The height of summer
I’d never felt that strong
Like a rock”
Apologies to Bob Seger
“...My fellow RINOs who fought impeachment, like Houghton, Morella, Shays, Chafee, Jeffords, Snowe, and Specter ...”
One of my goals was to outlive “Snarlin’ Arlen” Specter.
This, I have done. [Hale smiles here]
A man’s got to have goals...
bttt
“...home school...”
Good to hear that, buddy... need more of it.
I did the parochial school route with mine, and wherever I saw something that seemed a little too left-leaning, I intervened.
Even to the point where I complained about a poster one of the English teachers had up in the classroom, with “Famous American Authors” on it... Maya Angelou... Walt Whitman... Langston Hughes... all good lefties.
When I told the teacher about it, she really had no idea who these people were, and when I schooled her on it, she removed it. It was removed from other classrooms too afterwards.
That’s how entrenched this crap is. Even some of the teachers don’t know who these folks are.
Thanks for posting this, kristinn—sure brings back memories, although I’m not sure I attended the first one. I think I made it to the rest we held in DC.
Wonder what ever happened to the freepers named here—normally a lurker for instance. I loved her infectious laugh—any gathering we held was enlivened by her attendance.
Of course, the really big friend missing today is Doctor Raoul. God rest his soul. I really can’t quite believe he’s gone. I have so many wonderful memories of freeping with him——especially standing in front of the WH yelling the “Cops’ Cheer” at the top of our lungs.
So many old time freepers have dropped out, like Clinton’s a Liar and others that come to mind......but we have many new freepers who have taken up the cause.
Is it time yet to head to DC again? I’ve been thinking that for a long time—but which outrage would we freep against? There are so many from which to choose, unfortunately.
I wonder what got Raoul sick. Was it living in NJ?
I never heard what happened, and every time I think of him, I feel his loss again.
He never talked much about himself—was sort of a mysterious person. He always mumbled something about having some sort of secret job that he wasn’t able to talk about—
He and my husband became friends at an event we attended in DC—and he had promised us he would drive down to see us in TX this fall.............of course, that never happened, but for a long time, we looked forward to it!
