In November Rush Limbaugh blasted Pope Francis for his anti-capitalist economic statements. Rush Limbaugh admitted being “befuddled” by the harsh words about “unfettered capitalism” released by Pope Francis.
“If it weren’t for capitalism I don’t know where the Catholic Church would be?” The Pope has gone beyond Catholicism here… This is just pure Marxism coming out of the mouth of the Pope.”

Today Pope Francis responded saying, “The Marxist ideology is wrong.” But, then he went on to attack free-market “trickle-down” economics.

Some of the passages in the “Evangelii Gaudium” attracted the criticism of ultraconservatives in the USA. As a Pope, what does it feel like to be called a “Marxist”?“The Marxist ideology is wrong. But I have met many Marxists in my life who are good people, so I don’t feel offended.”
The most striking part of the Exhortation was where it refers to an economy that “kills”…
“There is nothing in the Exhortation that cannot be found in the social Doctrine of the Church. I wasn’t speaking from a technical point of view, what I was trying to do was to give a picture of what is going on. The only specific quote I used was the one regarding the “trickle-down theories” which assume that economic growth, encouraged by a free market, will inevitably succeed in bringing about greater justice and social inclusiveness in the world. The promise was that when the glass was full, it would overflow, benefitting the poor. But what happens instead, is that when the glass is full, it magically gets bigger nothing ever comes out for the poor. This was the only reference to a specific theory. I was not, I repeat, speaking from a technical point of view but according to the Church’s social doctrine. This does not mean being a Marxist.”
Someone needs to send the Pope a book on economics. Even Democratic President John F. Kennedy, a Catholic, understood that ‘a rising tide lifts all boats.’
Well, this is a blatant falsehood. I hate to call the Pope a liar but...
Everyone knows that when tax revenues increase because of prosperity the poor get all KINDS of freebies.
Not to mention the giving to charity that takes place.
The Pope is engaging in class warfare. Not nice.
So we can add the Pope to the list of people who think men get rich in a vacuum, the life of no one else improved during the process.
We can add the Pope to the list of people who think the wealthy put their money in a dark room, and that it is shielded from helping anyone else ever again.
We can add the Pope to the list of people who think that if one man has wealth, there must be people who are broke so he can remain wealthy.
Yep he believes Marxism is wrong, then spouts it’s leading tenets.
Shame on the Pope. He should know better than this.

The Pope spoke to show what he is, a Marxist. It is sad that the church has placed an anti capitalists to it's head. Rush is right and the Catholic Church would have never survived without America's generosity and as we lose our capitalists way of life to his Marxist/communists Brother King Obama the church should suffer.

I don’t know about the Pope. I know however not to listen to the subliterates who don’t know the difference between “its” and “it’s”.
I’m beginning to believe many people simply don’t understand they’re really are supporting Communism including many who vote for the Democrats.
The Pope is not infallible when speaking on matters of economics.
This Pope, in particular, seems downright ignorant of the subject.
I agree with Rush.
In Matthew 25 we have the parable of the Talents wherein the quest for prosperity is praised and honored.
Take a read of the story in Luke. It isn’t about worldly prosperity. In fact we are given the reason for the story here:
Luk 19:11 And as they heard these things, He added and spoke a parable, BECAUSE He was near Jerusalem, and BECAUSE they thought that the kingdom of God was about to appear immediately.
It would appear to be a story about Jesus and his Kingdom. We are familiar with the servants, but note the citizens in the story. Luke 19:12-27
The Pope is either ignorant or a liar. His demonstrably incorrect statement that the poor do not do better with the “trickle down” theory should cause him to repent of his evil ways and apologize to those he has accused of being the new tyrants and maybe even resign.

Whatever the church says about giving and helping the needy, it should never have the position that the state must steal from some to give to others.
The Pope does seem to support that, though. Incredible.

The Pope has the opportunity to downsize the enormously expensive Vatican and to request that wealthy Catholic capitalists donate their money directly to the poor through charitable organizations rather continue to add to the already-vast wealth of The Church.
When the Pope does that, his musings on the evils of capitalism will have substance.
Meanwhile, the Pope could learn something about humility by offering to wash the feet of Rush Limbaugh, who has always been humble enough to refrain from making major pronouncements about Catholic theology and other subjects he’s not an expert on.

What nation on God’s green earth gives more away domestically and or internationally to improve the plight of man?
Our government provides tens of billions to friendly and not so friendly nations around the world. We expend money on our military, much of which is directed at foreign campaigns to ease world tensions and improve the lives of others, as well as our own.
Private donations of food, clothing, and infrastructure are donated on a daily basis.
Our people sign on to spend a few years of their life doing good for people around the world.
We have doctors, nurses, dentists, construction crews... who take medicines, technology, and supplies with them. And then they spread their expertise and tangibles around for FREE.
Our military stands at the ready to help people on a moment’s notice. Our people have been dying trying to improve the lives of others on a daily basis, year in, year out, for nearly a century.
It would be almost impossible to mention a nation whose people we haven’t benefited either directly or indirectly. Over 500 million across Russia and Europe had their lives improved by the policies of Ronald Reagan on behalf of the United States. The U. S. S. R. faded thanks to him and another Pope who did have his act together.
We have died in Asia, Africa, the Middle-East, and Europe. We have friends that span the globe, and people who detest us for those friends and the good that we do.
In times of national disaster our government sends in supplies first, followed by private organizations that literally flood the region with gifts of kinsmanship, friendship, and love.
No one on the planet even comes close to us. We give away so much that one international pretender takes credit for things we have done on a regular basis, claiming it is the real benefactor, which it never is.
We give away over a half trillion dollars yearly domestically to ease the pain of poverty, to the point we get taken advantage of consistently. Many of these people are thankless, and trash our government and the people who pay taxes so they can have benefits.
To many this government and our system is evil. In truth, it is becoming more evil by the day, but the lingering benefits of the system now seemingly being sunseted, is still providing for humanity on a scale never seen since the dawn of man.
Our neighbor to the south sends tens of millions of it’s poorest and most evil citizens into our nation to take advantage, and they can take advantage because of the largess of Capitalism. Yes, even hobbled Capitalism...
Some world leaders trash us. The citizens of other nations, all too often join in. We are detested, until the next need comes along, and then we’re there to help. And then things return to normal, we are bashed again...
And every bit of this depends on our Capitalist system of..., wait for it..., wait for it...
TRICKLE DOWN
The thanks we get in this instance is to have one more world leader pile on, oblivious to the facts that are so obvious you would have to work at it to miss them.
I liked Rush's show a lot and still listen when I can, but that's nonsense.
Rush has made pronouncements on theology and a lot of things he's not expert at.
Anybody who's in the opinion business has done that. Maybe Rush would even be modest enough to admit it.
To some extent, it does. At the same time, the benefits to the lower classes are nowhere in proportion to the runaway wealth effect -- resulting in an elitist class -- accrued by the upper 1%, who, incidentally, escape most taxes. That's why the Catholic perspective on economics has always been one of moderation, not ideology on either side.
The way to help the poor in the long run is to increase economic progress which increases general prosperity for the economy as a whole. That is achieved by increased saving and investment, which is achieved by a pro-business environment and preservation and protection of capitalist institutions.There is nothing trickle down about it. That is the way a free society and a rational culture works.
