Dozens of people gathered outside Dunkin Donuts and McDonald's locations Downtown on Thursday morning to protest low wages as part of a national campaign energizing fast-food workers.

Carrying placards and shouting slogans such as “No justice, no doughnuts,” about 75 people rallied in front of the Dunkin Donuts in Market Square and the nearby McDonald's on Stanwix Street.

The actions are part of push by labor unions, worker advocacy groups and Democrats to raise the federal minimum wage of $7.25. President Obama says he would back a minimum wage of $10.10 an hour, and on Wednesday addressed income equality in a speech.

I am somewhat taken aback by the number of protesters in those photos. Must be professional protesters rounded-up from activist groups.

I like how 13 people signed the petition, that should get some action.

I wonder how many of them are professional agitators and how many are actually ff workers.

They are defiantly Astroturf events staged by the DNC. The one 'fast food' worker they interviewed on the local news this morning could barely communicate. She complained that she couldn't live on minimum wage yet she had a tatto on her neck that must have cost her hundreds of dollars.

The kenyan rolled out another class warfare campaign yesterday. One of the organizers of this made for TV event is a documented White Hut vistitor. You can’t get more astroturf fake than this “protest”.

Getting these fast food workers angry is not a good idea. They have control over the food you eat.

Who knows what they’ll put in your food.

The McDonalds on Wood Street was the one busted for essentially being an open drug market. Photos are of the store on Stanwix St. (though I doubt that one is drug-free)

This little known -or cared about- fact should be put into the mix:

A good many well-to-do small business owners put unbelievable hours into their work week after week, year after year after year. Do the math and they make less than the minimum wage.

Not to mention their own blood, sweat, and tears.

“I am somewhat taken aback by the number of protesters in those photos. Must be professional protesters rounded-up from activist groups.”

Notice how close up the photos are. Guaranteed none of the protesters are working for minimum wage if they even work at all. This was a coordinated effort with the media and SEIU.

We need to have some 80’s,70’s,60’s and 50’s year old people to counter protest.
I am in the 50’s group- my first job was 2.35 AN HOUR- realized if I wanted something better I better sell myself or better myself. I have done both.

I have worked with ppl in other age groups, hear them tell it they got whole lot less than 2.35 an hour to start and were damn glad.

If I write what I am thinking I will get banned.

Instead I will write this, quit being lazy, get educated on economics, stop being leaches and realize that flipping burgers has been, until this admin meant to raise a family.

If you do not own the business, you probably should be in highschool or college and not raising a family on fast food work.

Has Red Forman has said quit being a dumbass, dumbass

And this is from the more conservative paper in town.
The PG must be photoshopping picketers from the Flint Sit-Down Strike into these.

Yep, I'm not that old (at least in my mind) but my very first job in high school was as a dishwasher at a restaurant. I was paid $1.75 an hour and I loved the job. It was labor intensive and I was tired getting up to go to school the next morning but I also knew that it was an entry-level job and I had no real skill at the time.

(Also, it really helped that there were a lot of cute waitresses in their early 20s and a bit older. As a 15 year old kid that was awesome. :)

How do they know the “Dozens of people” were “workers”? Did they ask where they work? See their name tags? More likely SEIU/Acorn types bussed in for the media show.
