If you aren’t nervous enough reading about 3-D printers spitting out handguns or Google robots with Android phones, imagine the skies thick with crisscrossing tiny drones.

...imagine the skies thick with crisscrossing tiny drones. I can imagine the opportunity for crime, knock a few of them out of the sky, steal their merchandise. Even assuming they had some form of GPS tracking or alert system, it would take law enforcement time to be alerted and track down the felled drone by which time the perps will be long gone.

I'm not so sure. Google has this habit of just ignoring copyright law when they scan and post older (but not too old) books and periodicals. They came very close to dictating terms to all authors and publishers. They certainly haven't suffered any serious penalty for their behavior, letting it become a fait accompli. The Amazons and Googles of the world seem to have their path cleared before them.
