Can you imagine getting a phone call that your sweet, seventy-three year old grandma was sucker punched by a roving band of teenaged thugs and shes now in ICU with a broken jaw and a cracked noggin? You cant? Yeah, me either. But we should start envisioning such a bizarre scenario for our sainted elders and others because the knockout game is all the rage for demonic hood rats lurking the streets.
If youre not dialed in on the sadistic phenomenon known as the knock out game then Google it yourself because Im not going to provide a link to that chum-slick and give it any traffic. But I will do this for you: I will assist you and yours in avoiding being a potential victim of these vicious sub-human scoundrels. Heres seven tips to eschew being a stat of such a heinous, violent crime.
1. Since Im a man of prayer I advise you to pray for protection and not take safety for granted. Call me medieval. Yep, I regularly pray for my loved ones well-being and trust our Heavenly Father to keep the a-holes a-way.
2. As much as you can, dont put yourself in the path of a rootless posse of pain. If you have to move to a safer place, then do it.
3. Dont walk our increasingly mean streets alone and make certain the folks you run with are street smart and will have your back. If you're elderly, I suggest you befriend the Bruce Lee in the neighborhood by making him great meals and, in exchange, have him go with you when you're on a grocery run.
4. Adopt a pit bull, feed it gun powder and call him Satan (or something to that affect); and take him with you everywhere you go.
5. I recommend studying the news clips that show these knock out clowns at work and make a mental note of the age range and the skin color of the culprits. Duh.
6. If youre young, youd better get on the stick and become proficient in some form of ass-kicking. The way things are going youre going to need to know how to throw down for the next few decades given this milieus entitlement mentality, our coddling culture and the egregious and growing lack of parental oversight and discipline.
7. Get a concealed carry permit, buy a gun and morph into a proficiency with said weapon that rivals Doc Holliday or Annie Oakley. If you live in some crap city or state that makes it impossible for you to carry out your God-given right of self-defense, then pick your junk up and leave that locale in the dust.
Liberals tell themselves that when they move criminals into safe neighborhoods magically 'lawful' behavior will rub off on those less fortunate. As we all know, it doesn't work that way...
‘Lawful attitudes’ don't rub off... moving people with criminal tendencies ( and NO not all blacks or poor people are criminals) into non-criminal situations (middle class neighborhoods) doesn't make them less criminal - it just changes neighborhood crime statistics - a change that supports the liberal illusion that 'it's all the same' - it's not...
The Memphis attempt at spreading out criminals and potential criminals showed something different. Much more like what happened in your mother's neighborhood. Crime went up in the new 'move in' neighborhoods - and didn't go down in the high black concentration neighborhoods.
When crime is spread out over a whole city - rather than just in a few neighborhoods, police protection goes waaaay down. Rather than being able to 'flood the zone' with cops and keep control - cops are now spread out thinly over a whole city. Crime goes up in the 'inner city' because they're fewer cops ... and crime goes up in formerly middle class neighborhoods because there's more criminals.
There are lots of good people - both black and white - who are poor at some stage in their lives. That's not the issue. It is to say that treating illusions rather than reality is not the answer... Maintaining liberal delusions isn't the answer for those trapped in bad neighborhoods subjected to more crime - or for those who must move from family homes because of poorly thought out PC 'solutions'. We can do better...
we’ve all heard about “white flight” in recent decades, out of cities into suburbs. But decent middle class blacks have also moved out. They don’t want to live in a ghetto any more than the rest of us do.
Detroit may be the most extreme case, but, could be the future for many cities. Detroit has many square miles of abandoned homes and other buildings. The only solution for parts of Detroit and other cities is the bulldozer. Tear it down and start over. Or let nature take over.
I would take issue with #1 until you’ve done all you can to protect yourself. “God helps those who help themselves.” I’d reserve prayer for a situation that you’ve gotten yourself into where you have no alternatives. I guess you can pray for the wisdom necessary to protect yourself.
Very well said. if the criminal element is everywhere, rather than concentrated in certain areas, it makes sense that the police tactics and procedures would have to change to keep up.
Anecdotal evidence indicates that, if you put ghetto people including the ghetto criminal element, into formerly nice areas, that the ghetto element brings down the neighborhood, rather than the nice element uplifting the former ghetto dwellers up to a higher level.
But remember who 'wins' in this mess...
Without an angry black underclass the white liberal elite power structure would NOT be re-elected. And that's democrats....
The parents don't raise their kids to know better. The law can't control this problem, the law themselves are scared of these kids. Sad truth is once enough young blk males are shot dead playing this knockout game, it will lose it's aura.
We live in rural Alaska. Half the community is on welfare or disability or are Indians on the Govts teat. No crime what so ever; except alcohol related incidents with the Indians for the most part, not real crime. No young blk kids within 400 miles; that's the determining factor.
My personal rules are:
First, avoid bad places and bad situations.
Second, and this one is pretty hard. Always be aware of your situation. If that means looking around and glaring at people, so be it. That advice actually goes all the way back to Socrates.
Third, always be armed as well as possible. A gun if possible, a quick opening fighting knife, even if you have a gun. If the gun isn’t possible then the best quality and largest pepper spray you can carry reasonably comfortably.
Don’t be afraid to use whatever weapon you have. In my case that also includes a Cold Steel walking stick. Just having them is not enough, be ready to use them.
If you carry a gun, make sure you are familiar with it and how to carry it safely. If it can’t be carried cocked and locked then it should be either a double action or double action only.
PO'd? UBETTCHA!
Concealed carry permits are unconstitutional.
Writing an article on the knockout game and failing to mention that 99.99 percent of the players are black is either cowardliness, negligence or ignorance. PC, especially in the media is a big part of the problem, a big reason why things have gotten to the point they have. Stop it.
Reflective surfaces. Shop windows and doors next to you and across the street. They're all around you. Shiny sides of panel vans. Rear view mirrors of parked cars can offer a glimpse of what's going on behind you. Keep your eyes moving, but don't appear to be afraid.
If you do go to Baltimore for crab cakes, don't make any wrong turns en route.
“Last year, my nephew suffered a double skull fracture when 5-6 of them young blks attacked him outside an eatery in Cambridge, Mass; tourist section of town.”
Hope your nephew is/has recovered.
I live next door to Cambridge; I seldom go there (and carry a firearm when I do) and there are parts of it I simply ignore. I know the general area where your nephew was attacked; you couldn’t pay me enough to go there - it’s VERY “dark”. Any non-black in those areas, especially after the sun sets, is a target.
“They” also roam about the public transport areas (the “T”); avoid public transportation (subway, bus) in certain areas in Cambridge as well. 100% fact that certain crime(s) are either not or under reported - gotta keep the tourist dollar$ flowing in.
Carrying should be one element in a larger set of strategies. I actually agree with the author on #1. The best laid plans of mice and me often go astray, as the saying goes. Nothing wrong with asking God to have your back, and it should be the first priority anyway, in case you get called unexpectedly to Heaven, via knockout game or whatever.
But as for the element of surprise, that is something you can reduce. War is thousands of years old. We should be pretty good by now at finding adaptations to what amounts to a very simple surprise attack. First on that list, as others have said, is to avoid the war zones when possible.
Second, while you cannot have eyes in the back of your head, you can have the next best thing, a moving head. Look around. Note where everyone is. Notice where surprises could come from, and create a buffer of space. Distance gained is reaction time gained.
Third, if the surprise comes too close to draw a firearm, be prepared to defend your head. If you survive the first attempted blow and can create some space, you still have a chance to pull the firearm.
Failing that, use lesser but more quickly deployed weapons. A tactical knife comes to mind. Don’t disrespect the effectiveness of a knife in close quarters. It is at least as likely as a gun to do the necessary defensive damage.
Also, as the author of the article states, do study the films. They are helpful. In one, where a teacher is hit in an alley, I observed several things. First, just as the teacher is passing the mini-mob, he actually lowers his head further, looking more or less directly at the ground. This was, IMHO, a submission behavior, like a dog rolling on its back and baring it’s neck to the alpha. It is disgusting to see in a human. He could not have been surprised if he had looked the group right in the eyes and communicated by body language he was ready to engage whatever they had.
Furthermore, had he been watching those closest to him, he could have seen the attacker coiling behind one of his friends getting ready for the attack. Once you are trained to see it, it is very difficult for a would-be attacker to NOT telegraph their intentions. There is always preparation, and it can be observed. But you have to be looking.
Another thing. It helps to be listening. When I was a young man I was waiting for someone at night outside a fast food joint. I heard step coming up rapidly behind me, and turned just as the attacker arrived. The element of surprise was gone, and the situation was diffused. Your ears can be the eyes in the back of your head. Field tested.
But there’s another thing here. Some young computer geek could make a fortune right now, figuring out a way to creatively use something like Google Eyes to give people “eyes in back of their head” for those long walks home alone in the dark. The timing for marketing this couldn’t be better, and the tech should be pretty simple. I’d love to see the commercials for this. Take those home burglar alarm commercials to a whole new level.
To hell with that.
The best defense in a good offense. This is our country dammit. Our forefathers carved a nation out of the wilderness. We built it out of nothing. We decent people are the ones that work and toil everyday to keep running. Why do we have to secede it to the brutes?
Do people realize that an "unsafe neighborhood" is literally enemy held territory. Held by people that are so different culturally and morally that they should be considered a foreign people - a hostile foreign people.
Why do we have to pay for and sustain a foreign, hostile dangerous people in our own country? Why are they protected by the police, the courts, and the military? Why does the government import millions more every year?
Obviously the power structure does not represent our interests and if fact works against us? So then the question is who really controls the power structure in this country?
I have seen little cap/helmet or goggles mounted rearview mirrors used by bicyclists. Maybe those would be a useful addition to your T, O and E for certain environments.
“weve all heard about ‘white flight’ in recent decades, out of cities into suburbs. But decent middle class blacks have also moved out. They dont want to live in a ghetto any more than the rest of us do.”
No problem with that. . .just leave behind the THUMPA-THUMPA cars.
I've had that same experience.
I had a similar one that was actually a bit comical, on another occasion. I was on a date with a girlfriend at Fisherman's Wharf in SF. We were walking along together and I just sensed that there was somebody following me, way too close, intentionally being quiet.
I spun very suddenly, ready to fight. It was a street mime, who'd been mocking me. He almost collided with me. When I spun he backed way off and put up his hands in 'no harm meant, I'll be leaving now' fashion. We had a good laugh about it later.
There’s another issue which concerns me, which I’ll try to express here.
That concern is that, considering Travyon Martin/George Zimmerman, or incidents such as the fake Duke lacrosse rape case, I would be afraid of a physical altercation or fight with a minority person, because I would be afraid that somehow I would be blamed for it.
It’s the reverse of how things were in the old South, when those who were then called Negroes would be afraid of getting in trouble with a white person, due to fears that the Negro person would be the one who gets prosecuted, or has other legal problems due to the incident. Nowadays, I would be concerned that the white person in an interracial incident is going to be blamed somehow.
I know it’s odd to respond to my own post, but just wanted to add, that my fears would be escalated in areas of big black populations, in which the cops would be black. I would fear that black law enforcement, given the social/legal climate today, would have that presumption that somehow I was racist, and that justice would not be served if I got in an altercation with a black knockout game thug.
