and his colleagues covered up the crime
A Florida family who claim their daughter was shot dead by her sheriff's deputy boyfriend in a domestic violence dispute are demanding justice.
Young mother Michelle O'Connell, 24, from St Augustine, was found dead of a gunshot wound to the mouth in September 2010 with her boyfriend, Jeremy Banks' duty weapon by her side.
He claimed to have been in another room and that she took her own life.
But Miss O'Connell's family are convinced she was murdered and that Mr Banks' police colleagues helped him cover up his involvement.
Their demands for a proper investigation into her death has now come to global attention as a result of a lengthy investigation by the New York Times.
It found that after Mr Banks told his colleagues his version of events - that Miss O'Connell had broken up with him and taken her own life - the St Johns County sheriff's department effectively halted their investigation.
No evidence was tested, no family or neighbors were interviewed and no data was downloaded from Mr Banks' cellphone despite the fact that Miss O'Connell had shown no signs of being suicidal prior to her death.
Her family told the paper that Miss O'Connell had been excited about a new full time job at a day care center and was enjoying being a mother to her 4-year-old daughter Alexis more than ever.....
But hours before the shooting she had made the startling confession to her sister, Christine, that Mr Banks had been violent towards her for months.
She added that she wanted to leave him but was scared of how he would react if she did.
But Mr Banks' colleagues at the sheriff's office weren't interested in Christine's testimony ....

The blue wall of corruption is being shaken down in St Augustine
I knew a now deceased police chief from a city in North Carolina. I remember him telling me that he believed a lot of suicides were actually murders but no way of proving it.
Not sure he knew that any better than anyone else but it did provide food for thought.
Cops are criminals. I know not all cops break the law. But most cops won’t go after those who do.

Very interesting parallels.
I live in St Augustine and there has been 3 investigations into this and the media is not telling you everything because the side they present is more juicy
If you get a chance then watch the PBS presentation and tell us where their facts are wrong.
The facts they presented seemed pretty clear.
Yep, when it comes to crime, cops are as bad as any other criminal when it comes to the covering up for other cops.
Well I suppose it could have happened through her having been talked into it. “Here honey you feel so blue? Take a lead pill for that!” And she might’ve. In this insane age nothing is too crazy to be possible.
But wow the professional courtesy... had this been some ordinary Joe Schmoe he’d be getting the microscope treatment at this point.

If you don’t want to view the PBS version, here is the NYTimes version.
More juicy? I don’t know, but St Augustine has a lot to explain.
“Yep, when it comes to crime, cops are as bad as any other criminal when it comes to the covering up for other cops.”
If you want to test this theory, just file a written complaint against a cop like I did a couple of years ago. In exchange for my very detailed written complaint, I received a letter from a Lieutenant advising me that if my complaint were proven false, that I would be prosecuted. I finally had to write to the Town Council about the situation before the PD decided that they had better “investigate.” They called me in, put me and my wife (always have someone with you) in an interrogation room with no windows, a cop and a tape recorder. Then he proceeded to try and trip me up by asking that I repeat everything I wrote. I simply told him that the complaint was accurate, and that I would only answer any questions that he had. Then he launched into his mantra about out put upon all cops were and wondered what it would take for me to withdraw the complaint because it was going to go on the cop’s permanent record. At the end of the day, the Chief “found” that the cop had acted within the law. Case closed!
The only good news is that in this instance someone had not lost their life. but the coverup process was exactly the same. We are The Law, we answer to no one!
One more sign of loss of allegiance to God.
Alaska Wolf Ping.......oh wait...
And here’s where Real Christian Men step up with a very odd sounding mission. Risk themselves in order to stand up for God’s truth. The result may be to get threatened and scoffed at and even rejected, but God is not evicted from His throne and the witness who refuses to be intimidated will (not might, will) get a reward.
Oh let that werewolf come howling around here and he’ll get the crucifix treatment.
Hey Bane!
beat me by four minutes... ;-)
Never met this critter but somehow he seems to be living in your minds rent free. Why? Either give him the gospel gang treatment or else let him sit and simmer in Satan.
Oh let that werewolf come howling around here and hell get the crucifix treatment.
Huh?
