TOKYO China sent fighter jets into its newly declared air defense zone Thursday on what state media called the countrys first air patrol since it declared control of the airspace. The announcement came hours after Japan and South Korea sent their own military planes into the airspace over the East China Sea, testing Chinas resolve to enforce its declaration.
The announcement of the flights came just days after unarmed American B-52 bombers flew through the same zone in defiance of China. Beijing later said that it had monitored the American bombers but had chosen not to take action even though the planes did not tell the Chinese they were coming, as the government now demands.
On Thursday, the top Japanese government spokesman, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga, said that the Chinese had not been notified of the Japanese flights, and reported that China did not scramble its fighter jets to intercept the planes.
The South Korean government announced that it, too, had flown aircraft through the zone, on Wednesday, without alerting Beijing, a flight Chinese officials said they had monitored. The South Koreans said they had sent a surveillance aircraft.
Like Japan, South Korea claims sovereignty over territory in the zone, but enjoys warmer ties with Beijing than Japan does.
Japan did not specify how many patrols had flown through the zone or when the flights were made.

Bump.
“Free trade” is simply sending American jobs to China.
Bring back American jobs.
“products originating in China . No exceptions . It will all be thrown overboard”
That would create an island bigger than Hawaii, especially one month before Christmas.
Yep. I'd hate to see a Korean Air type "accident" over these stupid islands.
“—try to find one person” Not hard, I guess. Everyone who has a piece of Chicom made krap in their house has helped. Everyone who has hauled a piece of cheapasskrap home from Walmart has helped. And every congresskritter who’s voted for big spending/borrowing is guilty and needs to raise their hand.
In my view it’s one thing to use foreign labor, etc. to serve foreign markets but it’s quite another to make substandard krap overseas to re-import here. I’ve fought this whole re-import thing since the 1960’s and I’m still in it.
There's a big difference in free trade and fair trade.
Look at your labels. If everyone fedup purchases a dozen products a year from some place other than China...guess what?
China will feel the impact and American corporations outsourcing will see it on their bottom line...boycott cheezy Chinese crap.
Some here will tell you that’s against capitalism.
If China crashes the dollar their central bank and SWF’s are bankrupt.
Thanks for your note. I appreciate it.
We sure will.
Well, we agree there. I appreciate your note.
I now it’s going to seem like those who have purchased Chinese made goods, are problematic, but in their defense, you can’t buy American anymore.
In 2006 I bought a Mercury Mariner. It was made in Kansas City. Many of it’s parts were brought in from overseas.
Who knows what percentage of the vehicle was actually American made? I don’t.
I was trying to support my fellow citizens, so they would have jobs. The corporate a.h.s had moved much of the business off-shore.
