RUSH LIMBAUGH SCORCHES POPE FRANCIS
WorldNetDaily ^ | 11/27/2013 | KATHY SHAIDLE

Radio giant Rush Limbaugh is scorching the leader of the Roman Catholic Church for criticizing unfettered capitalism, saying, “This is just pure Marxism coming out of the mouth of the pope.”

“You know the pope, Pope Francis has issued an official papal proclamation, and it’s sad,” Limbaugh said on his national broadcast Wednesday. “It’s actually unbelievable. It’s sad because this pope makes it very clear he doesn’t know what he’s talking about when it comes to capitalism and socialism and so forth.”

“I’m not Catholic,” Limbaugh added, “but up until this I admired the man.”

In the 84-page document titled “Evangelii Gaudium,” which was released Tuesday, Pope Francis called upon politicians to provide “dignified work, education and health care” to all citizens.

“The commandment ‘Thou shalt not kill’ sets a clear limit in order to safeguard the value of human life,” wrote the pope. “Today we also have to say ‘thou shalt not’ to an economy of exclusion and inequality. Such an economy kills.”

Noting that he had visited the Vatican “numerous times,” Limbaugh observed wryly: “Believe me, it wouldn’t exist without tons of money. Somebody has either written this for [the pope] or gotten to him. This is pure Marxism.”

I enjoy Rush and think he has done wonderful work in promoting conservatism. I have only two complaints regarding Rush. One is small and the other is maddeningly befuddling.

1) I wish Rush had started calling liberals what they are **long** ago. They are Marxist and Fascists. They aren’t liberal, or leftists, or progressives. What they want is communism or fascism. This is a small quibble that I have had with Rush’s program but words matter and it is important to call things what they are.

2) The second is astonishing to me. Rush has nearly completely ignored Obama’s very questionable background, his claim to have attended Columbia where no one remembers him, his fake social security numbers, and fake birth documents. Maybe in time we will learn the reason for this. Blackmail? Threats to Rush’s family? Threats to have the NSA plant kiddie porn on his computers? Who knows?

No one here is calling for “all citizens wealth should be shared by the government”.

“Weal is the root word, not wealth, as in money/assets.”

No, kidding, genius. You just figure that out all by yourself?

Rush has nearly completely ignored Obama’s very questionable background,

"very questionable" answers your question. Rush likes to deal in facts, not questionable suspicions. I totally question Obama's background, but without proof, it is an unprofitable argument that won't win over a single liberal.

fet·ter

ˈfetər/ verb past tense: fettered; past participle: fettered

1. restrain with chains or manacles, typically around the ankles.

I realize the disagreement here is probably all semantics, but "unfettered" or "unchained" capitalism means, to me, free market capitalism.

To you, "unfettered" seems to mean some form or degree of lawlessness, rather than freedom. I guess we can agree to disagree on the meaning of "unfettered" in the phrase "unfettered capitalism."

But I think the language used matters in this case. Why do you want to say or imply that capitalism should be in fetters? Because it is inherently evil and must be restrained? Because otherwise there is no protection of property? But capitalism by definition requires the recognition and protection of property rights. Capitalism (in the broad sense of "private ownership of the means of production") inherently entails protection of property and contract rights, or how is there ever any "private ownership of the means of production"?

Capitalism does not need to be in chains.

If you goal is a world in fetters, then capitalism is a part of the shackled world

That is the goal.......

Thank you, I consider it a gift. So I guess you had a point about “Commonwealth” states that you wanted to make?

I made it. The fact that you’re struggling to get the obvious doesn’t surprise me.

I hear you. It’s my opinion and certainly not an expert one, but I think Rush has to choose what he comments on with a great deal of care. Due to his position behind the mic, there are things he can and cannot say. I mean look what happened with Sandra Fluke. Sheesh. But that’s just my opinion and it could be all wet.

Happy Thanksgiving!

And I agree with you about liberals. But more importantly those that I’m related to would rip your head off if you call them a Socialist. However, they sure don’t mind other people’s taxes paying for their health care etc... Go figure.

.
Were the pope a “man of God,” he would know that men cannot provide “healthcare,” it comes only from Yehova.

So much for Satan’s “vicar of christ.”

ROCKLOBSTER is correct, capitalism is a slander of free enterprise coined by none other than Karl Marx.

“No.”

Seemed like I did. I figured it was because I corrected your understanding of “Commonwealth”, especially your misunderstanding of Virginia, Kentucky, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania, as you put it that “They’re not states.”.

I thought that was a mistake worth correcting in the context of the thread, and I’m glad you took it graciously. You see, Some people get angry when they think they are smarter than everyone else and a “lesser” corrects them, putting in danger their self-esteem.

I believe he’s a Fabian communist—who has figured out that corporatism gives him the most he can get, including in ego preening, right now.

I am not in the position to read Rush's mind or heart. I am not able to discern why Rush chooses to cover some topics and not others, unless he specifically states a reason.

But...Are you a close friend of Rush that you would know?

I only know the facts. He rarely calls “liberals” what they are ( Fascists and Marxists). In the past few years he has moved toward using the words, leftist, progressives, and ( rarely) socialist.

He spent little time on Obama’s lack of background, or fake documents, fake Social Security numbers, and other questionable aspects of his background that are **known**. ( Ayers, Wright, Marshall, etc.)

Why does Rush do this? Your speculation is as good as mine. I speculate that there were threats and possible blackmail. Perhaps, in time, Rush will tell us.

Finally.... I admire Rush and am grateful for him.

No. Apparently neither you nor ROCKLOBSTER read German:

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kapitalismus#Etymologie

The term was already being used a century before Marx used it. It’s shocking how much public education sucks in this country.

“Seemed like I did.”

No, it did not. You have a very active imagination.

“I figured it was because I corrected your understanding of “Commonwealth”,”

You didn’t correct it because it wasn’t incorrect to begin with. Again, you have a very active imagination.

“especially your misunderstanding of Virginia, Kentucky, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania, as you put it that “They’re not states.”.”

They’re Commonwealths. I was right.

“I thought that was a mistake worth correcting in the context of the thread, and I’m glad you took it graciously.”

There was no correction because there was no error. They’re commonwealths.

“You see, Some people get angry when they think they are smarter than everyone else and a “lesser” corrects them, putting in danger their self-esteem.”

I don’t think I am smarter than everyone else. I also don’t assume you are a “lesser”. Again, you have a very active imagination. Maybe you should talk to a medical professional about that.
